I do like the First Class of First Great Western HST's as sometimes when you are on a long journey the more comfortable seat with at seat service (Weekday Only) is very nice. The Nice thing of not having to walk to the buffet and Que for your complimentary items. The Complimentary items consist...
It maybe that a few enthusiasts have broken the rules and Platform staff having to waste time telling them what to do. I travel / Walk into, lots of First Great Western stations and find that as long as you let the dispatcher know you are there and that they are happy with you in that position...
I refer to the Class 143 on 17 October 2004 at Nailsea and Backwell, which Caught Fire in 1 Carriage under the engine, Passengers De-trained and the whole train went up! The conductor was right to de-train the passengers as a result Both carriages were destroyed and no passengers were killed...
Completely agree, Maybe when the FGW/EMT HST's get displaced by the new IEP trains then more HST's on the XC routes would increase capacity and cascade the 22x.
The Air conditioning works on the 22x However the train is still 40 Degrees and unbearable on a warm day. Travelled from Weston to Dawlish and the train was so unbearable I got off at Taunton to get a FGW HST!
Try the XC Service From Penzance to Glasgow central Takes about 9 hour and the carriages are about 40 degrees, They also stink! A HST or 47 on that service is a massive improvement to the voyagers!
