    Beckenham Spur

It’s fairly frequently used for engineering works. It’s probably my most used rare track and I’ve never specifically planned to use it.

    Ramsgate 375s

Yes, sorry, /3’s are three car. Unlike Southern, there are no 5 car units. Therefore if you come across a 7 or 11 formation, it has to include a /3 somewhere. As for identifying, I don’t know, but I see Express380 has published a link which should help. Yes it does.

    Ramsgate 375s

I’m pretty sure they’re used interchangeably across all SE 375 routes. The /3’s are probably the hardest to track down, and they may be attached to certain diagrams to ensure 12 and 8 coach trains run instead of 11 and 7. That said, identifying anything with 11 & 7 will always guarantee you a...

    New routes for sleeper trains

Ok, maybe I worded it wrong. It’s a market that’s my point. But just because it’s a market doesn’t mean it justifies a sleeper. The person I was replying to was advocating for a sleeper stopping at around 0130/0230, my point is there is a market for Birmingham/Scotland but one that’s adequately...

    North Sheen

Island platforms are not uncommon on that part of the South Western network, North Sheen, Motspur Park, Stoneleigh, Hinchley Wood off the top of my head are all examples.

    New routes for sleeper trains

If you could have a 0430 from Euston and arrive for 09:42 into Glasgow. Especially if you tightened it up as you say. I think that would sway some customers. No, I agree, and one of the limitations is its customer bases wanting to join a sleeper train at 0130/0230 in the morning. Those timings...

    New routes for sleeper trains

True. Tbh, I think it would only take one or two even earlier departures to make a significant impact on the lowland sleeper.

    New routes for sleeper trains

They’re lovely ideas the sleeper. But just so impossible to make viable. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride on the sleeper and will do so again, but only because I like trains. It was not the quickest or most convenient option. And it was only the cheapest because I don’t pay full price. Which again...

Does the location of some depots detract from the running of the railway?

Looking forward to seeing all LNWR staff queuing up to sign the 139’s

Does the location of some depots detract from the running of the railway?

You’ll never be able to have a depot at the end of every branch line. Taxis are needed to take you to run the first train. You could run it ECS to save the taxi but then to take an empty train out the yard and down to the branch might take longer so you lose time there. Plus some lines might...

North Downs Full Line Closure 10th Feb to 18th Feb

I get where you’re coming from, and yeah, I does seem like something that should be resolvable on paper. But even if there is road access, road access for a fitter to drive a van up, park, and head over to fix a faulty heater is different to having access for a tanker to come up and refuel the...

North Downs Full Line Closure 10th Feb to 18th Feb

The sidings don’t always road access. Driver access to many of these is via authorised walking routes (not sure if that’s the case here) but even if they did have road access, that doesn’t mean it’d be suitable for fueling. Plus you’d have to get GWR staff over to complete it. Just a non-starter.

Thameslink Northbound Cambridge trains add a station after passing through the Core

I wish they stopped after an event I appreciate the occasional SSO is issued but I’ve never seen it. As someone who (frequently) wants to go to the Croydon area after an Ally Pally gig, watching the Brighton/Horsham trains going straight through.

Should TfL Consider building a 3rd Platform at Highbury and Islington?

I’ve used New Cross about 4/5 times and every time was to interchange between SE and LO. Each time was off peak and a healthy number didn’t same. I’m not suggesting it’s enough numbers to be the hub of Crossrail 3, but certainly enough to warrant its existence.

    Wimbledon Traincare Depot

From the casual enthusiasts passing glaze (both from the train and the 156 bus), Wimbledon Park seems more stabling. The the layout appears more ‘stable-y’ and as someone who can pass by multiple times a day, I’ve often seen Wimbledon Park fill up post morning peak with empty stock and then...
