195s truly awful, not a step forward

Unsuitable for their role on Scarborough - Hull - Sheffield fast service? Rubbish - they're prefect. I made this point before. People carry on as if 170s are isolated to the Harrogate loop. They're not.

195s truly awful, not a step forward

Hi Bletchleyite, 1) Because, depending on the destination, taking the train takes ages compared to the car (to York: Car = 50 minutes, Train = 2 hours) 2) It costs way more to take the family out on the train than it does the car (to York: Car = £20 petrol & parking, Train = £45.50 Anytime...

How about... Urm, Hull - Sheffield!

195s truly awful, not a step forward

Well I commute to work usually on 195s. They’re fine. As good as a refurbished 158. Better than a 155 or 150. Not as good as a 170. Given that they’ve allowed Pacers to fall out the bottom of Northern’s fleet, certainly altogether raising the standards.

“Do not stand in the aisles!”

Well I commute by train and generally just switch off, especially on the way home. I've heard it all before and 99% of what's said is useless rubbish like "see it say it sorted".

Lumo - new Open Access operator on the East Coast Main Line

Try to book a ticket using Safari on a Mac and the website seems to default to the touch screen layout intended for phones. Painful.

RMT on a "war footing" to threaten a national strike

Garforth is gradually getting busier and busier with each passing day.

Turning station car parks into housing?

Sounds like just about the most short-termist, daftest thing they could possibly do!

Passengers getting confused by different TOCs or liveries.

Indeed. I suspect that if it was enforced and the parties concerned “went legal”, a court wouldn’t look kindly on the railway in this situation. And I suspect the railway knows this, so it would never get to it…

    RMT threaten strike action on.........Thameslink

I am a Microbiologist and have tested water for Legionella, including for train companies. Going by the article, GTR have done everything correctly: Have a programme in place to detect it and take the correct action to disinfect the affected pipe work.

    Comparing new trains - 195 vs 755

I commute home on a 195 most working days. The A/C is fine and works.

I chose not to board the train at the nearest door and it left without me

Don't faff about. Just get on. If you need the toilet, walk down the train.

IET's grounded - what would you run?

I wonder if Hull Trains could spare an 802 to send down to GWR? They only currently require 1 out of 4 Monday - Thursday for their current timetable. Every little helps. I hope someone's pointed out to the DFT that this situation would be easier to deal with had they actually completed the...

Entire 800/801/802 fleet stood down for safety checks

And you are quite right to. You're a paying customer, not an inconvenience merely getting in the way of running trains.

Entire 800/801/802 fleet stood down for safety checks

The last time I had to go to London on a Saturday it was to deliver a presentation at the University of Greenwich. How could I have deferred that to the following weekend? Granted, due to the current restrictions it's unlikely anyone will be doing that, but your assumption that all travel is...
