Ok the worst buses have to be now the Optare Tempo SR, you will find these on Trent Barton's Route i4 between Nottingham & Derby, the most running disaster on 4 wheels, forever unreliable, noisy, underpowered, uncomfortable, in fact I can't think of a nice word to say about them to be honest...

Much better off changing at Sheffield, the direct trains from Sheffield to Burton tend to come from Leeds anyways, plus if XC have any problems up the ECML which has been happening a lot, you got the 2 EMT trains which start at Sheffield still as a back up, which still gives you reasonable...

It depends if your planning to travel in the morning peak or not, but a £4.60 all zones saveaway ticket should cover your entire journey shouldn't it?? I'm more inclined also to say that ATW sets the Meols Cop - Heswall fare, and is much cheaper splitting it at Bidston but even then it's still...

Yes that one does split at Preston, if ur still struggling for overcrowding on that train at Preston there are quite a few alternative Northern services from Preston too (3/4 I think) or there's the Blackpool South train too!!! To add to that very few normally would join the TP train at Preston...
