Leeds man jailed for 22 months for defrauding LNER (and perverting the court of justice)

He had to get a letter from the NHS that said he was fit prior to the original sentencing. Per the LNER link I posted earlier:

Leeds man jailed for 22 months for defrauding LNER (and perverting the court of justice)

A little more information: https://www.lner.co.uk/news/train-ticket-cheat-jailed-for-22-months/ Thereafter, independent of the original offence, lying to a court will always be treated very seriously. This led to the charge of perverting the course of justice, and following denying this in the...

    Local radio stations

Whilst there will be the odd place that doesn't have decent DAB or internet access, 72% of listening is digital now. The bandwidth for radio is low anyway, hardly requiring fast broadband. The 72% is split - 43% DAB, 15% smart speakers, 11% web / apps, and 4% digital TV.

    Passport Rules

Because as virtually all other European countries, including some not in the EU, chose to deepen cooperation by implementing Schengen, the UK both inside and outside the EU chose to pull back from any such system. Don't forget that Schengen and similar schemes are not just about the citizens of...

    Bus replacement timing

Just out of interest, I got there earlier just in case. The bus took exactly 30 minutes, and was timed to go every 5 minutes, so gaining 5 minutes at least on route (the roads were clear today). 5 minutes from getting off the bus to the train was impossible, but the extra 5 minutes would have...

I'm travelling from St Albans to Manchester today, which involves going to Bedford, getting the bus replacement to Milton Keynes, and picking up the Manchester train there. The ticket was bought from this website, but itineraries are the same elsewhere. The train arrives at Bedford at 12:07 The...

    Dangerous boarding procedures at Euston

Do the people who arrive really early, or just miss a train and have 59 minutes to wait, wait on the platform if they know which one? If I arrive early I go for a coffee at the station or nearby.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Is there an easy way of doing that? With railcards there is a link. Would the rail companies have to keep a common database of those whose battery has run put before?

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

If one ignores phones with knackered batteries, every phone I have had in the past few years has had a low mode mode or similar that kicks in if the battery is low. Seeing that, and relying on a ticket on the phone would see me not using the phone except for necessities such as showing a ticket.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

People would need to carry a charger / lead, and one compatible with the sockets - whether three pin, USB-A or USB-C.

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

I've still got it. However, if you've lost it, right click on the taskbar, click taskbar settings, click taskbar behaviours, and make sure you have "select the far corner ..." ticked.

I may have misunderstood what you mean, but the ticket is clearly via St Pancras.
