The training is 11 weeks in the classroom then you get handed over to an instructor. Moses than likely be with the instructor around 6-9 months. With them then you’ll go through all the traction, handling and route learning etc. You need to hit 265 hours driving before you can look to pass out...
I’ve just passed out on the mainline, you’ll enjoy it. There is a lot to learn with all the routes and traction you need to sign but it all clicks into place eventually.
Training usually lasts around a minimum of 9 months. Everyone will pass out at different times. As soon as you pass out you go up onto 90% of the full salary, this then rises to 100% after 2 years.
They usually do it all on one day, but I know of a few people that are going down this week just to do the paper assessments then will have to go down again to finish off the computer ones.
I'm not sure why they've changed it.
Ive just sent you a couple of dms. Not sure if you'll be able to reply as Im sure you have post 5 times on the forum first. Let me know if you get them.
Passed my medical this afternoon so I'll be starting on the 6th of January in cardiff. Genuinely can't wait to get started. Best early Christmas present I could have wished for.
We were given around 20 mins. I put mine down as bullet points. Just made it easier to read and keep track of. We were given our sheets back so we could see our answers.
