School buses to be switched to trains

In the 1990s, there was a proposal by Fife Council to transport pupils from Cardenden, to Lochgelly high school, by train, as Lochgelly Station is a few minutes walk away, and most pupils could walk to Cardenden Station in 10-15 minutes. The plan was never carried out.

Last time there was a strike like Go North East?

I suppose to answer that, you need to go back to the late 80s, when drivers at Central Scottish went on strike, over changes to things they were used to, as a result of the merger with Kelvin, and the introduction of new working practices. It lasted several weeks.

    Remaining International coaches

I'm one of them! There used to be a network of services, called Eurolines. Does that still exist?

    Remaining International coaches

If we're on about uk to overseas coach services, then I'd say Belfast to Dublin, if Bus Eireann still runs it.

Why do “both ways” stops exist?

Such an example exists in Cluny, between Cardenden and Kirkcaldy, at the entrance to Coalden Farm. Pavement on one side, but the entrance to the farm is what is used for Cardenden bound buses.

    Bingo buses since 1986

A friend of mine knows someone who has recently retired from Moffat and Williamson, at their St. Fort depot. That person has said that M&W ran bingo buses from Newburgh and Newport on Tay to the Kingsway Bingo Hall in Cupar. M&W also ran a bingo bus from St Monans to the Kingsway in Leven, and...

Trivia - NBC Bristol VR double deckers

As an aside, some of the East Kent willowbrook bodied VRs moved in 1994 to Fife Scottish. Speaking of Northern, later Go Ahead Northern, I don't believe that their North Tyneside depots, Wallsend and Percy Main, had any. I wonder if any depots within NBC companies, which bought the VR, didn't...

    Bingo buses since 1986

Last week Premier Bingo, who had halls in Alloa and Cowdenbeath, ceased trading. I was reminded that, for a time in the early 1990s, the Bingo ran a free service from cardenden and lochgelly, to the hall. It was operated by Kelty coaches, but it ended mid 1990s. My mum used to use it. A post I...

Trivia: Bus routes that have been lost due to an operator folding

Back in the early 1990s, Black's of Lochgelly had the tender for the Burntisland Town service, and they decided to run a Lochgelly to Burntisland service, via Cowdenbeath. It wasn't frequent, about four journeys each way a day, using one minibus. When Black's ceased trading in 1995, Stagecoach...
