Hi all,
I have recently found out that (apparently) at least the Bulleid Battle of Britain (BB) and West Country (WC) light pacific's had different styles of cab at different periods, whilst streamlined.
There were 'V' cabs, 8ft6 (8'6") cabs, and 9ft (9') cabs, apparently.
I have a lot of...
Thank you - I did have a chat to Northern (who operate the direct service I can use) and they said much the same - that they appreciate my trying to wear one as much as I can, but that I shouldn't be making things difficult for myself in the process.
I also have an 'exempt' neck badge, which I...
Thank you both. The Starbucks on the bridge would be enough for me, it's somewhere to get tea and water!
I have the option of one direct train that takes less time overall - but is one solid period of struggling with a mask - or travelling via Leeds, making my overall journey longer but at...
Hi all,
I will be making a journey at some point in April, and one of the routes I can use is changing at Leeds - I'm just wondering if anyone has travelled through/visited Leeds since Covid-19 lockdowns started (and every Food and Drink venue on a station seemed to close), and if so, whether...
I personally find the "look in the eyes" posters disturbing, at best - I'm already only leaving the house/travelling when "necessary" (usually necessary for my mental health) - and having my mental health affected by gaslighting posters & audio adverts created by this government is just...
Thank you :) I think that may be about as close as I'm going to get - I'll examine the stills I've pulled from the video, and will see if I can figure out which of those three it is.
Having had a look at the short video I managed to take, it was definitely a GWR liveried 769 - dark sides and a white roof, which is the only livery that matches.
However, at this point I still have no idea what 769 was at Nemesis on the 8th January 2021 (08/01/2021)
Hi all,
I passed the Nemesis Rail Burton depot & yard today, and noticed the end of what was a 769 poking out from behind all the lines of locos and carriages between the Birmingham-Derby line and their yard.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to read its number, as it was too far away/we were moving...
Very interesting reading all this so far, and the pictures on the Twitter link were very interesting too.
Hopefully whatever it turns out to be being used for, will be a decent/worthwhile venture. That's a lot of money to spend on such a Replica otherwise!
Apparently it was at the Northbound services
Something I was also wondering. It seems like a lot of expense to build something that doesn't look "right" - but those sort of questions are the reason I made this post in the first place, someone may know.
That is a very impressive film prop. Seems like a lot of effort though!
Yep, that's the one I was referring to in my initial post, and the only thing I can find with any connection to that name at all.
Wasn't expecting this many replies, this quickly!
I can confirm these were definitely taken at the services yesterday - I was initially sent just one picture which I couldn't read the name or number on, so I asked if the loco was still there - and they went back out and took the photos I...
Hi all,
Not sure if this belongs here, or in the continental section, but as it appears to be a preserved locomotive I figured I'd try here first:
I was contacted yesterday by someone who was at Newport Pagnell services at the time, and found a locomotive which "appeared" to be a French...
