    GWR Class 800

@TractiveEffort thank you for the update sorry to hear the real reason why.

    GWR Class 800

Only one unit of 5 carriages instead of two because “hitachi are having problems with their trains”, so the train is packed and standing. Seems 1.5 carriages are 1st class and announced as 1st class ticket holders only. Should 1st have been declassified and what are the problems with these new...

How will GTR cope with Brighton Pride crowds?

I also really enjoy Pride events :)

How will GTR cope with Brighton Pride crowds?

Me too, I took it to mean that the good old days weren’t always so good

How will GTR cope with Brighton Pride crowds?

I’m going to stab a guess that the key reference point here was “the good old days”. One comment that in the good old days specials would have run for an event... Responded to (given the event in question is pride) that in those same “good” old days being gay was illegal. A bit of bitter irony...

    Crossrail testing

I’d love to do a cross rail open day, not been lucky enough so far :(

Which is better and why - over head or third rail electrification?

Both but predominantly the physical presence. Knowing electricity can jump from the wires, knowing the wires can come down, then knowing the voltage if these things happen. I’m well aware that my interpretation of the danger is completely disproportionate to reality :) doesn’t change how those...

Which is better and why - over head or third rail electrification?

It’s interesting, as I say I live in third rail territory which contributes to this, but I find overhead feels much more dangerous as an average passenger than third rail.

Which is better and why - over head or third rail electrification?

See, this bothers me, carry long items with care and not above head height. What about umbrellas held high? Numerous umbrellas in a rush hour platform? I honestly find the overhead equipment pretty scary (which I guess is a good thing, better than being blasé). Agree it’s very unsightly (was...

Which is better and why - over head or third rail electrification?

I’m very aware that this probably sounds very dumb and I do live in third rail land so don’t really stand on many platforms with overhead lines, but anyway ...! after watching the old educational videos posted in another recent thread one of the dangers was the current arcing and it not just...

I’ve no real knowledge on this so interested to know!

18:38 Cannon Street > Hayes train tonight

Seems to be some kids who use the line to get to Eden Park for trouble too. Don’t understand these idiots that think throwing stuff at moving vehicles is great for kicks

18:38 Cannon Street > Hayes train tonight

I guess logic to me (non industry) would be to remove the passenger in question rather than the entire trainload? And why would the passengers not be reloaded when the train did in fact then continue?

18:38 Cannon Street > Hayes train tonight

Can anyone tell me what happened on the Hayes train tonight, it was late running and crowded due to signal failure and the cancellation of the previous service. At New Cross all passengers were asked to leave the train and cross to platform C (over the footbridge), that our train was not going...
