    Themed graffiti

Graffiti is appearing more on South Eastern in recent weeks, but this one caught my eye on Friday at Tonbridge. I am not quite sure this is the right application. (Please move to another place on the forum if not appropriate)

With the increases effeciency of electric motors, their lighter weight, increased power to weight ratio, potentially backed up by batteries, is third rail becoming a better option for electrifcation than overhead line electrification (OLE) installation. Able to be installed at a lower...

My journey to work involves me commuting from Tunbridge Wells to Canterbury West and back via Tonbridge and Ashford International (not sure why it is still called international?) I come back leaving Canterbury West at about 16:30, Both the National and South Eastern Journey planner show a...

    Thanet Parkway updates

Does any one know why, from what I can see, the electrostars (non HS-Javelin) are not stopping at Thanet Parkway? I have tried to travel today from Tunbridge Wells to Thanet Parkway, but it is just not a practical journey as they train I was on went straight through, meaning a taxi from the...

Lumo overspeed incident at Peterborough (17/04/2022)

I cannot see why the railway cannot adopt geofencing as a supporting technology when diversions are in place. Linked to the train directly geofencng could slow or stop a train on an approach to a diversion independent of the driver's actions. At the moment the range is 100 to 200 metres. In the...

National Rail Enquiries - monetising your data

Please be careful when using National Rail Enquiries (NRE) - they have set up a deal with a US organisation called Clicktripz which will analyse your enquiry and then suggest hotel accomodation for you by opening a new tab - not really what I need when travelling from Dover to Rochester in Kent...

P&O Ferries to permanently stop accepting foot passengers on their Dover to Calais route.

I understand the bus will stay on the ferry for the crossing.

P&O Ferries to permanently stop accepting foot passengers on their Dover to Calais route.

As I understand P&O are changing to a coach that will drive on drive off the ferry - as replacing the walk on walk off. In effect foot passengers will embark and disembark via the car deck, after being collected from and taken to the terminal. This should simplify the operation? Much work is...

West Coast Mainline Avanti cancellations 13/03/22

Meanwhile the customers are expected to pay more and put up with this. That is not sustainable. Covid has radically changed working arrangements and personal ones. Surely some kind or degree of change is needed. Oh well the train will be two minutes early into Euston. All is well.

West Coast Mainline Avanti cancellations 13/03/22

And there is engineering work on the East Coast and no Lumo services today. So much for national capacity planning.

West Coast Mainline Avanti cancellations 13/03/22

I think a lot of people on this train and left standing on platforms are anti Avanti just now

West Coast Mainline Avanti cancellations 13/03/22

Currently on an Avanti service from Glasgow to Euston 10.38. Train is only 9 carriages. It was standing from Glasgow as a result of the Transpennine strike and Avanti cancellation. The train manager is threatening to cancel the service. I just do not understand why the train is only 9 carriages...
