    Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Bus News

It's terrible recently, you have Trent Barton/Notts & Derby, where the bus might break down or catch fire, if it turns up. Then you've got Arriva, who are also hit and miss on turning up, can't be bothered to put timetables up anymore and have got the scruffiest and dirtiest busses going.

    Google Maps train data

It wouldn't surprise me if there "data enhancement" causes issues. There are often problems with the Trainline app not updating for platform alterations or showing unit swaps as cancelled trains. This issue doesn't effect the National Rail Enq app. When it's been queried we've been told the...

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

Not quite. 94% have bought tickets another way. The stats pay not attention to people who need help with their etickets, times, Passenger Assist booking and so on. I wonder if the figure includes excess fares and reservations?

A depressingly familiar journey through broken Britain

It's the cost that doesn't help. You pay a fortune for a dirty, worn out train, especially on this route (and others, of course). So even if my train is fully formed and on time, it's still going to be full and standing most days, have worn out seats and carpets, and be boiling hot in summer.

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

My local station is proposed to go from having a dispatcher and ticket office colleague to being unstaffed except for a daily cleaner visit. The rail delivery groups statement has already been found to be inaccurate...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

That was brought in at pretty much all TOCs after a number of nasty accidents involving people spilling their hot drinks over passengers sat down as they walked past them. Usually because of the train going over pointwork and lurching to the side, unbalancing the passenger. The paper bag gives...

A depressingly familiar journey through broken Britain

The solution is new rolling stock. The 158 unts have air con that doesn't work when it's hot and reliability issues the rest of the time, which is unsurprising given their age. The route needs longer trains, on longer platforms and the line needs more capacity to accommodate them. If this was a...

Bus stop timetables - whose responsibility?

If you email [email protected] they will either update or advise you the operator needs to do it (Trentbarton look after their own). I wouldn't bother calling as you will only get the generic customer service team, who will then have to email it onwards. It helps if you can tell...

Fares have gone up, but staff wages have not, for at least 2 or 3 years now. So the fare doesn't need to go up to pay for them, and I'm pretty sure they won't be giving a discount once the staff are gone for all the savings. This also ignores any loss of other facilities, such as toilets, and...

    Train evacuation/detraining passengers?

They, I assume, are referring to placing protection on the line, to prevent another train coming into the area whilst passe gers are evacuating. Not protecting the train itself from fire damage or something.

    Train evacuation/detraining passengers?

Experiance plays a big part. When you've dealt with incidents before and in differing locations, you get a feel for how long something will take and what the alternatives are. If, for example, your at Sheffield and your unit needs to be held then detaining may provide pleanty if alternatives...

I find the wording of the posters rather odd. Most of the stations on my area will lose all ticket office staff and dispatchers. So if the headcount goes from 7 to 0 how on earth are staff going to be assisting at the ticket machines and the like? I'd be intrested to know if the consultation...

Raising the alarm when witnessing a crush at a station

Generally a station that deals with the kind of crowds where a crush is possible are staffed, even if it is only temporarily (for example for a local event, like a concert). I'm unaware of any incident like this happening, but I'd advise calling 999 if it ever does. As pointed out above they can...

They will be a Station Technician, or cleaner. They will litter pick, grit as required, and do basic maintance or raise any faults. There will not be a customer facing staff member, but an email and phone number will be provided to contact a helpline. This will be pretty similer to any other...
