    Delay repay query

Quick question- would I be expected to change off of a direct train in order to mitigate any delays and would my delay repay request be voided if I didn't? For example, there are delays between Ayr and Glasgow Central just now, affecting the Edinburgh direct train. I could probably make some...

    Inverness-Markinch routing

Sounds like 3 singles or a rover, then! Thanks again for your advice.

    Inverness-Markinch routing

Nice one, thanks for that! Oh well, maybe some other day! Anyone got any suggestions for a ticket that'll let me cover the line, perhaps Markinch-Invergowrie?

    Inverness-Markinch routing

I've never bashed the section of line between Perth and Dundee before. I've got a Markinch-Inverness off-peak return routed Aviemore that I was hoping to use the rtn portion of tomorrow (Sunday). I've had a look at the routing guide (maps IE & KI) and they seem to suggest, using my very limited...

    Famous people on trains

Saw Frankie Boyle on a GNER train (I was going from Edinburgh to York, he was on before and after me), looks like his hate of flying is true!,Didn't have a chance to attract his attention but it derinitely was him. Also saw Kenny Baker (R2-D2) on Preston station. I'm sure he was in some kind of...

    The "£1 Tweedbank Specials"

Used a few without problems-went Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy on one Tweedbank-Kyle ticket, forgot I was using it and managed to completely confuse myself when the guard told me to change at Kirkcaldy! I also used another set (with the 16-25 discount of course!:D) to get to Wick and back from...

Storm Frank: impact on West Coast and Highland Mainlines

Exactly what I meant. Sorry if it wasn't clear. The reasons I could come up with, and I'm sure there are more, were- P'way guys' safety-can't imagine it'd be fun seen a pendo heading for you knowing it'll stop, but mebbe not! Signalling and points. Is that section bi-di and how far away...

Storm Frank: impact on West Coast and Highland Mainlines

I've just been driven past the Lamington viaduct on an RRB and was surprised by the location. Close to the A702 on both sides. As homework, I want everyone in the class to come up with a reason there couldn't have been a sort of reverse Whitehaven North put in place? I.e. a temp platform either...

Tweedbank <> Nairn & Tweedbank <> Neilston: still £1 (update: not any more)

Well, last Friday I started short at Markinch on a Tweedbank-Wick and back pair of tickets. Spent an hour in Wick, missed the connection in Inverness and got put on the beds to Perth. Taxi waiting in Perth, stopping short not an issue, all for £1.65! Don't think I'll claim Delay Repay, though.

Would this be honoured? East Kilbride to Tweedbank

Looks like the fares are available between Tweedbank-Armadale and Tweedbank-Blairhill too, although you could argue these will already have been covered by stopping short on the East Kilbride fare.

Would this be honoured? East Kilbride to Tweedbank

Is there any way a list could be produced from BRfares.com or elsewhere, showing up all the destinations available for £1 ?

    Diesel driving question

I've noticed it most on 47s and Valenta engined HSTs as they were the mainstay where I come from when I was growing up. I'm sure I've seen it on 67s since, though. It's most noticeable audibly, but also visibly on an HST when it's clagging. You get the 1st burst of smoke with the 1st power...
