I think EMR would take the place as the third operator/second route from London to Manchester/Leeds etc. Like Chiltern does between London, Birmingham/Oxford sort of complementing and competing with both the express and commuter services.

I mean the WCML/Ashford domestic services could travel via HS1 through the NNL / HS1 link to provide a cross London service pretty minimally. However the lack of an obvious central London station may hinder it.
Perhaps an expanded Camden road station where the proposed high line is could suffice
Or if they sold and marketed tickets that departs from Ashford at a lower cost than st Pancras or included parking/domestic train tickets from elsewhere. It would perhaps make Ashford more of a prospect
A balance between direct services and changing between trains. Like it or not a direct service is more attractive on the onset to the general public. Making an interchange more seamless and convenient will make people more likely to be willing to change trains. Tbh direct trains to Manchester...
If considering an extension to Glasgow, would going to Glasgow Queen Street high level via the Falkirk line may suit better with the higher speed services there?

Conversely could the new GWR service from Bristol to Oxford be extended to MK?
