    A career as a signaller

Hi, is there any word on the 2021 pay deal? If memory serves the old one only ran as far as last year so this year will be a new one. I haven't heard anything so just imagine NWR and The RMT are in the early stages of feeling each other up, but if anyone knows anything it would be great to hear...

Write your answer on a word doc then just copy them into the application form. Saves you aeons of messing about if your ap doesn't go through for any reason. I speak from highly pained experience.

Hiya, might be wishful thinking but I thought I'd read an email/connect article etc saying that PRP was going to be in play for the end of July? There's every chance I misread this and the fact I now can't find whatever it was I think I read probably means I'm imagining things. Can anyone...

Ah haha well in that case I'll take your word for it :D Probably just a pipe dream to be honest! Currently in a mechanical box and want to avoid moving onto computers etc for as long as possible, but at the same time I'm a bit bored of my location now (very very quiet and repetitive). I...

Hiya, does anyone know what grade Shrewsbury's Severn Bridge Junction Box is please? Just read about it and the worlds largest mechanical box sounds a flipping dream to work. Going to go on the assumption jobs don't come up there very often mind.

Hmm yeah. Its hard to word it without sounding greedy but on the one hand I totally appreciate that until a clearer picture of the finances is available then it's reasonable to hold back, whereas on the other hand the vast majority of us have still been coming to work everyday while Rome burns...

With all the madness going on, does anyone know if PRP will still get paid next month? Had a peek at old payslips and saw that last year we got it in June so in theory it should come through not payday next week, but in 5 weeks time. I had a look online for local scorecards etc but couldn't see...

Just wondering... I'm a signaller and thus can still travel around when going to/from work due to the nature of the job. Now we've entered full lockdown mode as a country, are scheduled LB's and T3's still likely to take place? Only reason I ask is that the letter I have to explain why I'm out...

Ah my box closes on Sunday mornings at 0600 and doesn't re-open until 2200, hence there being no Sunday day shift. Goes without saying each location will have their differences but this was just an example of my rota.

I don't drive either yet bud and still got through. Similar to you in that I work in a city centre so perhaps we get more leeway than rural locations. I guess if they have two identical candidates and the only thing which separates you is a driving licence then you may miss out, but other than...

Hi, just have a quick question about the pecking order for OT. I know that first dibs go to a flexi who is rostered on, but after that should it go to a resident? Reason I ask is in my location there were 3 nights going next week and I was originally offered them and accepted but then told I...

Irregardless of when you signed your contract, if your first day of employment was on or after 1st Jan 2019 you'll be on the newer rate. Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. Signed my contract in October and commenced employment the following Feb, by which time the rates had gone up...

Can you access it via Connect or....? Trying to apply for a new role but can't access the fecking site to do so...
