When I was a student many a moon ago, I always used to book myself a ticket on the 19:32 Reading to Exeter on a Friday night, because it's was guaranteed to either be late or severly overcrowded.

I saw that Basingstoke to Ash was valid via Woking and Guildford, as per the fare priced at £12.60, and via the journey planner screenshot attached, so assumed that I could break my journey at Guildford. Does the screenshot change your mind?
