Why? Most of the new franchises stipulate more trains and more services as far as i know. Cant have trains without drivers.

As others have eluded to it could be years before you even get past a first sift. I applied for northern rail on 9th December and still haven't heard a yes/no yet!

I would think, as above, that they would weed out people who answered incorrectly on the online test first, regardless of whether you've passed psychometric testing before or not. This wouldn't be a consideration at that point, unfortunately. They can afford to be choosy, and TOCs can enforce...

Perhaps. Granted I did have to think back to gcse physics lessons about levers and forces for one of the questions too.

The tests on the application are not particularly challenging. They are logic tests. Anyone with a logical mind and good spacial awareness will get them. You don't need to practise. I did it last night at 9pm having been up since 4am and believe I got them all right.
