    Pacers on Long Distance Routes

Last night, I was looking through my late-80s photos. Sure enough, within my S&C related ones, a few 142+156 combos on those very workings. The constant drone of the Pacer engines, up the 1 in 100....

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

Hang a large bullseye target on 'em, then send 'em down the road to Thorney Island... It's nature's way of filtering annoying people out of Emsworth. ;)

Best Photo Ops for TMDs, depots, infrastructure

Hello Ed, sounds an interesting project. Are you seeking to photograph the exact same locations from your period images? Or, are you merely seeking the comparison with "what happens [for the subject matter] these days"? Is your travel UK wide, or just a particular geographic area? You're...

The "And in other news..." thread

Seriously, Britain - Just. Stop. This. A 9-year-old British boy has won a European championship with his uncanny impression of a seagull. The EC Gull Screeching competition is held every year in an attempt to change the image of seagulls, which some people see as a nuisance...

Thanks as always, @lostwin(m) I can never resist a gleaming boiler and polished pipework :). Kings Sutton's photo was taken from a public foot crossing - albeit via a half mile trudge through sodden grass....!

Trivia: Rarest BR locos to survive into preservation

+1 for the HSDT (as was originally known). It set the scene for fast and reliable inter-city transit. BR's most successful product.

    Loco hauled around Havant

Last Saturday's appearance of B1 "Mayflower", buoyed my appetite for steam. This week has returned to "dismal" - so here are a few (recent or recent-ish) shots to lift the spirits.

A question about commuting to vs living in London.

@Cowley I agree with the above advice I've marked in bold. I worked in central London locations 1994-2012; and I lived in Central London for 12 of those 18 years.
