SWR to withdraw public access to Guildford Station Footbridge

Just walked through, I would say the the 'gap' is wide enough for a 7.5 tonne truck! - Can only guess that the 'gap' is to allow the removal/replacement of ticket machines?

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

Surprised to discover that the new E400MMC 'Coasters' are low height - had a look in the cab of the one at Brooklands, 13' 10'' (in old money), always thought B&H went for Full height bodies? (maybe a batch of Streetlites the exception), is this for standardization or simply to miss overhanging...

    Stagecoach South & South East

Double deckers in the form of Tridents are found on the 20 most days and at weekends 'Route1' E400 MMCs are very common.

Bee Network - list of franchises awarded (Tranche 3 included)

Much of the older Stagecoach fleet was upgraded to Euro 6 with local funding, so golden opportunity for Stagecoach to dump, sorry, pass on a load of 08/58/09 reg E400 to Metroline.

SWR to withdraw public access to Guildford Station Footbridge

Disagree, I live very close to the back entrance, I think this should be permanent, I have seen plenty of evidence of fare dodging and anti social behaviour in the last few years.

What are the piles of soil next to Woking Station?

As said, been there for years, aggregates, sand, gravel etc for the construction industry. Usually a daily class 66 or 59 can be seen and a string of wagons loading and unloading.

    Go South Coast

Does anyone on this forum know what services/vehicle numbers are operated from the (now) Eastleigh outstation? i am guessing that at least parts of routes 2, 3, 5 and many of the school/college contracts are based at Eastleigh.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

The latest (2024) British Bus Publishing book does not list Tain, Insch, Stonehaven or Macduff depots, have they closed? I realise that they may be outstations/sub depots of larger depots and understand that while many so called outstations are nothing more than a bit of tarmac in someones...

    Go South Coast

I too wondered about Swanage charging, could it be the case that part of the 'proposal' is that the charging points are available for car/van charging during the day? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 'powers that be' were very keen on making electric charging facilities available...

    Another Awful RailAir Experience

My 10 pennyworth, I have noticed that the RA2 has been skipping The Chase stop recently - until a few days ago there were roadworks near the Cathedral roundabout that caused long delays, they had gone by at least yesterday (I drove through). 1703543470 I know a lot of the drivers on the RA 2...

    Stagecoach-Disowning the past

My take on this - reading between the lines of the 'Corporate Froth' is that Stagecoach is now open to franchising and any type of profitable business. Stagecoach have been awarded the franchise for north/north east Greater Manchester, including their existing operations in this area so are they...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

Echo that, yesterday, (Sunday) 5 car Portsmouth - Waterloo full to bursting, some passengers left behind, why could they not run 8 car?

SWR to withdraw public access to Guildford Station Footbridge

@ 7pm-ish Friday evening, I am buying a ticket at machine at Guildford Park Rd entrance, man approaches barrier, words to the effect of 'I am just walking across' - staff member opens barrier. man walks through. I think the staff member was almost certainly agency - blue high-viz, probably just...

What uses will buses have in a world of driverless cars?

I disagree, driverless taxis would automatically be fitted with several cameras, when ordering on an app, (or by any other means)you effectively sign a legal agreement so that in the event of damage, littering from fast food, vomit, cig butts or drug paraphernalia, you are automatically...

What uses will buses have in a world of driverless cars?

Rural routes won't exist in 10 years time, 'supported' or tendered routes will also continue to wither away, part of an ongoing decline which has been going on for many decades and with the current dire state of public finances it won't make any difference which party is in power. Urban buses do...
