Advance purchase ticket on XC, train pulled from timetable, can I use earlier service?

Thanks dvboy, that's good to know. I've just seen in the email from the online vendor that I can refund and rebook, and the AP tickets are still available on the earlier service. But as I've already collected the original tickets I have a feeling that will not be straightforward!

Advance purchase ticket on XC, train pulled from timetable, can I use earlier service?

Hi all, just looking for an opinion on this... I have an AP ticket "booked train only" on 1630 XC Birmingham - Cardiff with split at Lydney. For some reason this service has been pulled from the timetable all next week, although this and the return working appears to be the only ones, so still...

New ticket barriers at Cardiff Central

I have same issue - won't work the new barriers with ITSO season ticket. Staff initially though was because Cardiff Central wasn't origin or destination on season, but apparently have now changed to accept intermediate stations but still doesn't work.

South East Wales - New service to Bristol and new stations opening: how should these be served?

Good to see this starting to move forward. Any additional services need to run through from west of Cardiff. Cardiff Central already struggles to cope with the number of terminating trains, as discussed elsewhere. When the tfw Cheltenham goes to a regular hourly service, perhaps it could...

    Rail & Sail booking horizon

Thanks for the reply. Yes understand what you say about mandatory reservations being needed for the ferry. The rail tickets are available to Holyhead now, but if destination is extended to Dublin (to include the ferry) they are not. What I don't get is why the present booking horizon for the...

    Rail & Sail booking horizon

I'm looking to book Rail & Sail tickets for a trip from South Wales to Dublin via Holyhead in February next year. None of the booking engines appear to have availability beyond the timetable change in early December (they show times, but tickets are unavailable to book). However tickets are...

    Class 175 future speculation

These are nice to have, but as things are, there is a high chance of turning up with your first class ticket and expectation of a three course meal, but in reality you end up wedged in the doorway of a 2 car 150. As TT-ONR-NRN says, it shouldn't be too difficult to fit out a 175 with half a...

    Class 175 future speculation

Maybe since nobody else seems to be interested in the 175s, tfw could take them back on a bargain basement lease! No issues with staff training there. Put 5 cars on Manchester-Swansea and ditch the unreliable and expensive MK4 sets. Then move 197s to Wrexham-Bidston to see the other unreliable...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Most people waiting for the 1639 Swansea (like me) didn't even bother attempting to board as the GWR was only a couple of minutes behind. The 1703 Carmarthen is always a busy service, made worse by the fact the previously regular 3 car 175 is now booked a 2 car 197. Hopefully we will see more...

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

Impressed to hear that the new control centre is now providing signalling for trains on the Treherbet line. They do know the line is closed for at least another 6 months? Don't they...

Could the Maesteg branch be operated differently, to increase reliability?

There was a plan for a half-hourly service that involved a loop at Llangynwd (north of Tondu, near the paper mill) as the Tondu loop was deemed too far south. That plan was shelved pending electrification due to capacity on the main line, but then electrification was cancelled too! Timekeeping...

    Unadvertised GWR IET Bike Spaces

5 car sets have 4 in total, 2 in coach B and 2 in coach D (at the ends adjacent to coach C). 9 car sets have 10 in total, 2 in coach B (end adjacent to coach C), 2 in coach D (end adjacent to coach G), 4 in coach J (end adjacent to coach H) and 2 in first class coach K (end adjacent to coach...

    TFW December 2023 Timetable changes

The obvious solution is to split the Manchester - West Wales services at Cardiff (which has already been done every other hour anyway). The Fishguard / Milford services could then leave Cardiff around 20/25 mins later. Westbound return workings need not be impacted as there is around 40mins...

    TFW December 2023 Timetable changes

The addition of a second service every hour serving stations between Cardiff and Bridgend is a big improvement. Likewise increasing the Swanline service to hourly, which looks well timed to run shortly behind GWR trains in both directions. Hopefully both will tap in to latent demand. However...
