Dutch start-up proposes cross-channel service to compete with Eurostar.

The two shops at the end are very small and wouldn’t add much capacity. i don’t see where they can expand to.

Dutch start-up proposes cross-channel service to compete with Eurostar.

I doubt they own any claim to the IP of the service or trains. The trains IP is with the manufacturer and it was the governments at the time that created the service. The only IP claim they will have is branding!

Virgin set to propose new cross-channel service

I will believe it when I see it. I am sure SNCF will also make it difficult. The only viable start up I can see if a low cost operator probably owned by SNCF 1699950418 You do realise that Virgin is a company, actually many companies, and not just Branson? He actually has very little to do with...

Luggage on trains… bikes now take priority?

In what reality do "Most people these days travel with an airline hand luggage sized case" when going holiday for a week? This is a train that goes to the airport. I would love to know what research you used for this? Probably the same research most train companies used when deciding to put next...

Why do people not move down carriages to make more space?

Most cases I see are Anxiety? They may be getting off at the next station and don’t want to be stuck. Selfishness? They just don’t want to Unaware? They have head phones in and are not paying attention

Luggage on trains… bikes now take priority?

Just disembarked a full Greater Anglia FLIRT train going from Stanstead Airport to Norwich. 1 Bike area (the train has 2) was filled with neatly stacked luggage. Conductor comes down the train demanding everyone moves the luggage as it’s a bike space - despite no bikes on the tran. A passenger...

    What’s going on with Thameslink?

It is a commuter service for Cambridge just as much as London. Between Cambridge and Kings Lynn it gets very busy with commuters and locals. Cambridge is exploding and many people cant afford to live in the city so are now communing in from Ely & Downham Market. In addition its also much...

    What’s going on with Thameslink?

The service to Kings Lynn has always felt like an annoyance to GN. They are quick to cancel services at Cambridge and put little effort into improving reliability - just padded the timetable to make it look like its more reliable.

Fen Line issues until 18th September

It does not help they are cancelling the shuttles at last minute. I cant rely on the service to get me home on an evening.

Fen Line issues until 18th September

A speed restriction over defective track is affecting Fen Line services between Kings Lynn & London Kings Cross until 18th September. Not good for those of us who need to use the route daily. Trains are cancelled at last minute and, if any run, they are only going to Cambridge. This is a...

    Avanti West Coast: Standard Premium

I don't think people expect an "Emirates" product but at least something worthwhile. I travelled with Grand Central first from Sunderland to London. The train was old and no food was offered - just a hot or soft drink. What made the journey was the crew. Smiley, friendly and came through...

    Avanti West Coast: Standard Premium

Travelled Avanti first last week and have to say I was disappointed. I don't see the value anymore. The lounge is fine. The food offering needs improving. A choice of nuts, cheese or a cake thing. 1st is looking very tatty. Service was poor with a crew member just sitting and watching TV on...

Debit card handed to station staff - next steps of the staff?

Call the bank. They all have a "Lost & Found" number on the pack.

Branding and marketing blunders or failures on the railway.

I was referring to the stupid "by Arriva a DB Company" that appeared on units a few years ago. Surprised it didn't say: "By Arriva a DB Company a private joint-stock company with the Federal Republic of Germany"
