Deal agreed between RMT and SWR regarding future role of guards

We'll see how long the agreement is honoured. Regardless, SWR Guards still have a longer working week than many other TOCs and have given up even more T&Cs than they already had. Personally I'd argue the Metro Guards have a far less attractive role now. Paid £7k less than the Commercial Guards...

Deal agreed between RMT and SWR regarding future role of guards

I'm guessing you're not familiar with train crew T&Cs? It looks like a poor deal to me. Even if DCO weren't included, fundamentally undermining their position going forwards, it wouldn't be an 'unbelievable generous deal', given what else they've had taken off them. Ah well, they shan't be...

How do you feel about rail staff travel

Personally, I see access to FIP Coupons as the real privilege. Using the Coupons, travelling across Germany on an ICE, on some obscure narrow gauge rack railway in Switzerland, hopping on and off suburban SNCB loco hauled services to get around Brussels or taking an SNCF RER service to some...

    Accident Training?

Pretty much the starting point for all training, contact signaller, laying track circuit operating clips/dets where applicable, ect. If anything how 'minor mishaps' are dealt with is more ambiguous.

    Biden Infrastructure Program and Amtrak

'No-where is particularly safe from police brutality'...? Seriously? That's what you took from Taunton's point? Even if you are actually referring to specifically to the US, if you've experienced some of the many sketchy characters that can inhabit/surround public transport in some places there...

RMT ScotRail conductors - Strike action regarding overtime payments

So they were included in a ballot. You're under the impression those other grades weren't interested in industrial action, yet, you are, upset (?) that they 'soldier on, but now without a bonus', having seemingly chosen to accept that? What difference does it make to other grades if another...

Ex Cops who have go on to be Drivers

I've never encountered any who regretted it at all and there are plenty who've made the switch.

RMT ScotRail conductors - Strike action regarding overtime payments

Are you saying that the non-Guard grades voted against industrial action in an original ballot? Why would the members have voted for industrial action on that basis?

RMT ScotRail conductors - Strike action regarding overtime payments

Funnily enough, upper management often seem to share that perspective. This is an industry in which the closest thing to unofficial industrial action I've seen was carried out by a Management grade who got passed over for an incentive deal that train crew (who they supervise) got. Never...

RMT ScotRail conductors - Strike action regarding overtime payments

Personally I doubt it's about the pay, I imagine it's due to there being a discrepancy between the deals offered to the Drivers and Guards. These things usually cause the most ill feeling.

Free travel taken away by Rail Delivery Group. Be very careful with your Staff Travel Cards.

I think RDG are clapping down on Priv misuse, particularly going by the other thread on here, but I don't think that carries over to ticket checking on the ground. Personally, when I was doing tickets, I'd see the PT card and move on. As time goes by though less people are and/or are being...

How competitive are trainee posts in Yorkshire?

Should just put up a notice on the front door of the train crew messroom at Sheffield... 'Driver jobs going, ask Booking Office or TCS for application form'. Anyone who's keen enough to notice gets in!

    Biden Infrastructure Program and Amtrak

The likes of Cheyenne to Pueblo with a (semi) regular service would seem like a no brainer and the direction Amtrak should be going in. It'd be interesting to know what journey times could be achieved, but the lines between the cities don't look too slow so may not be too unfavourable compared...
