As others have said, Cobh is certainly worth visiting. And as for it being on the Atlantic Coast, below is a pic (my own) of unit 2601 leaving Cobh station, taken in 2012. Quite near the coast!

Point of order. The borough of Sefton (itself within the county of Merseyside) includes Southport, which has never returned a Labour MP. It is generally regarded as a Conservative / Lib Dem marginal. Most recently: 1987 - 1992 Lib Dem 1992 - 1997 Conservative 1997 - 2017 Lib Dem 2017 to date...

Just to add to that regarding the 1012 ex Southport (507016+030) - 2U19. As you say, it was required to perform a quick turnaround at Southport, and thus departed 4 minutes late. It also lost time on the journey both with a lengthy call at Waterloo and subsequently being held outside...
