Could the branch platform at Marks Tey be electrified?

So an alternative, is perhaps to run the train to Colchester North Station (I think it's platform 6) which is how it used to run back in history. That would enable people to connect with intercity trains to Norwich, Peterborough perhaps and certainly London plus Colchester North as well. I...

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

That is what I thought when I paced it out, but the train stops much further back from the crossing than I envisaged which makes the overhang at the other end. I thought it was marginal. But I have no knowledge of the safety standards for pedestrian crossings and whether signalling requirements...

Could the branch platform at Marks Tey be electrified?

This is needed at Marks Tey anyway, the existing bridge needs replacing with an accessible bridge/lift, I would think extending it to the car park would be possible, thus eliminating the need for the foot crossing. But attempts to get this bridge replaced in 2015/6 failed due to insufficient...

Could the branch platform at Marks Tey be electrified?

The closeness of the foot crossing at Marks Tey to the front of a stopped Sudbury Train would be the issue, a passenger crossing the line would have no time to react (and with noise cancelling headphones on would not hear) the train starting up and moving off. Made sense when I was told this.

With the width of my handlebars it could not be done.

Here is the front of the train at Sudbury, the centre doors are quite a way forward of the platform. The guard said they were putting bicycles in the centre carriage for now. But this really should have been foreseen. They knew the specs of the trains a year ago, I can only presume the shortage...

I would think there is room to do it on that platform. Be a bit silly to have new accessible trains only for them not to be accessible and being a Dutch Railway Company really embarrassing not to be able to accommodate Cyclists.

Abellio Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

When, some time ago, the length of the 755/3s was revealed I did pace out the platform at Marks Tey, while waiting for a train. I thought it was marginal but assumed the head of the train (pointing at main line) would be further forward than it seems to be. But you would hope that someone...

So apparantly the platform at Marks Tey is too short for all three doors to be used on a 755/3 the main problem this causes is that the affected door is the one used for bicycles so the usual group of cyclists who get on at Sudbury cannot get their bikes off at Marks Tey.

I will check this and provide photographic evidence, I live less than half a mile from Sudbury station and work from home so should be an easy jaunt, will have to wait to try service as have meetings tmw.

The Class 755s are EURO 5 or better emissions compliant whereas none of the older dmus were. The payoff of reducing NOX and PM emissions from diesel engines is a massive reduction in miles per gallon. So you can have a really dirty diesel engine with high levels of mpg but is dirty as hell and...

That happens way way too often, especially in larger corporations, the engineers design the system and often the interfaces as well, taking no heed of usability. The current project I am working on shows it does not need to be like that.

Just because it uses Linux does not mean the interface for managing it is any good. It could be, if someone takes the effort to understand how it is used and what the interface requires (called Usability design or UX for short) but that is not always done well.

Absolutely, and needs minimal hardware. Reminds me of the US Navy Destroyer which was left dead in the water when all the networked Windows NT Servers went Blue Screen of Death simultaneously. But seen this so often, recall that the PIS system on the Central Line was programmed with an 8-bit...
