Which real time train running website or app is best?

Add detailed to the end of your query - it'll only search freight and charters if you're in a detailed mode page. e.g. "5Q23 detailed"

New edition of the National Rail Conditions of Travel effective 2 April 2024

There aren't any VSTP CANs today showing, or what people would call a P coded CAN either. There's PD cancels but that's not a P code in the sense that people now use.

New edition of the National Rail Conditions of Travel effective 2 April 2024

I generally agree with @Haywain here as RTT merely takes data from one part of industry systems (see previous posts ad nauseam for the daftness around there being two versions of reality) - but I also cannot see any record of trains being removed at Cardiff Queen Street today. There's only...

They do. But the services (both free and paid) we provide back to the operators from our agreements of gaining access to the data are a matter between ourselves and the operators.

    Realtime trains

RTT is not showing any advertised passenger trains on the line. They're all highlighted in the non-passenger background colour in detailed mode and if you look at simple mode, they aren't showing at all.

Berrylands Jn is the crossovers between the slow and fast lines north east of Surbiton station from memory. @greatkingrat is mostly correct, if RailMiles doesn’t know the location of all timing points then it won’t show the mileage. They do run slightly different databases though. In addition...

It'll be sorted out in the next few hours. We've had a number of issues over the last few days and the primary focus has been making sure the on the day information is accurate and worrying less about the historic.

"Please avoid using any third party applications"

This is an interesting thread. It frankly hints towards a terrible customer experience borne out from problems caused by whatever reason. The solution is never to remove options. I am also left wondering if there has been an EQIA on this, particularly given there appears to be an assumption...

Fort William to Euston. Caledonian sleeper and railmiles.me?

Both booked and actual times will work when searching for trains.

This is normal behaviour for a VSTP working: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:53392/2024-03-01/detailed VSTP schedules aren’t validated are checked for sanity so we don’t even attempt to infill locations into them.

Fort William to Euston. Caledonian sleeper and railmiles.me?

I think there's a chance it won't work until the next day after it arrives at Euston as the way it looks up before and after the event changes the system and how it looks up trains at non-advertised calling points. It's a very specific problem to the southbound highlander.

North Downs Full Line Closure 10th Feb to 18th Feb

The path has been in the system since 15 December so as @JN114 says it is simply one that wasn't removed.

We've got some (fairly slow) plans to roll TYT out to wider areas in its full guise but it is in use in a fair few places under the hood. To pull the data together for TYT is incredibly complex as it uses a lot of fairly impenetrable datasets. You can tell (underlying) TYT areas as you'll also...

No times showing for replacement buses on North Downs Line 03/02

There were train services in the system just over a week ago but a paperwork issue that arose very recently to do with gauging meant they weren’t able to rotate the units to/from Reading via Woking and Basingstoke, so the whole line became buses. Not much time to put an alternative plan in...

    GNER at Inverness?

VSTP paths don't have train operators contained within them when they come from NR. They should be derived from the train service code - obviously different services will do this in different ways. RTT looks at the currently active service codes in schedules and pulls the operator code from...
