Having read into this a bit more some glass manufacturers are already reusing window glass in the manufacture of new window glass, so it can be done.
The issue seems to be the removal of the impurities left be the original use, I suspect that over time move plants will be set up to do this and...
I suspect that window glass is not generally recycled because, it will have putty, silicone or the remains of double glazing surround on it, also there may be be a difference in how you recycle float glass, toughened glass and laminated.
The other thing to consider is most modern sealed double...
I think that you may find that Reston is used more than you would think.
I live about 10 miles from there I will use it, at the moment I use Tweedbsnk for Edinburgh which is just over 20 miles away.
Don't use Berwick which is slightly nearer as parking is a major issue.
You only have to drive...
It will be interesting to see if any lines that are forced to close because of COVID 19 and have a mainline connection are looked at by the government for reopening for public use.
I suspect the number would small, and it would take a lot of money to bring them up to standard, but st least the...
The Melrose by pass is the A6091
This may be a case of railway turned to road and then road turned to railway if the Borders Railway is extended to Hawick.
Kelso by pass is build on the line between Tweedmouth and the Waverley route.
From memory I think the line does not go over the electric cables, they cross the old track bed just after Tweedbank and will only be come an issue if the line is extended to Hawick.
I am sure there are warning signs as you enter the car park at Tweedbank
Haggisbotherer's remarks about people in the Borders are pretty offensive, and are not the real picture.
I moved here 13 years ago, run a business, employ local people and while there are problems in certain parts, this can be said for anywhere in the UK.
Perhaps Crossrail should be stopped...
It is in the FAQ section, they make an interesting point about the Southwards extension, in that if they did ever do it, it may make the railway to large for them to maintain.
I guess this is something all preserved lines need to think about, and not let their thoughts of reopening a line...
I would suspect that the GCR, is one of the few are allowed to, due to the line speed they can run at and also that they carry out training of railway staff.
Possibly, although it would not solve the parking issues, which would need to be done.
And also a north facing junction means trains would need to reverse at Berwick to go to Newcastle, I doubt anyone would catch a train at Kelso say, via Berwick to go to Edinburgh.
