Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

That's what I've done on occasions. It's not bank-breaking with a railcard, just a bit of a faff.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

I was on Booking.com! The option for refundable was £6 more than non-refundable. Likewise with Travelodge bookings. However I have now decided not to stay in either hotel, and going somewhere else instead that only involves Merseyrail and TfW, so the strike possibility isn't an issue.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Oh wow, thank you! However it would still mess up the Hereford to Taunton return changing at Newport bit wouldn't it? Edit: Ignore me, I'll have a play with it!

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

I would like the option of a "via" or "avoid" in one direction that isn't automatically applied to both. Sometimes the suggested journeys include a return fare leg, but it's not required to have the rest of the journey identical in both directions. For example, when travelling from Hereford to...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Is it fairly safe to presume there won't be any further strikes within say two weeks of these coming April ones? Just wondering whether it's safe to book non-refundable hotel room for 16-18 April.

    Signatures on railcards

Doesn't seem to say anything to that effect on the ticket. Obviously the railcard is non transferable! 1711396977 That's okay then.

    Signatures on railcards

On a related matter, I have just noticed some Advance tickets (paper CCSTs) that I collected recently have my surname printed at the top. If I were to buy a ticket for a friend, would the fact that the ticket has my name but their railcard is in a different name cause any problems?

    Liverpool to Worcester Train Strike

That's what I thought. So the OP probably needs to buy new ticket/s and claim a refund for the existing ticket.

    Liverpool to Worcester Train Strike

Is it normal for other operators to allow ticket acceptance when booked operators are on strike? With Advance tickets?

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Never had a Pro, and I do get a day out of my 14, but I remember the original Nokias where you got a week! But obviously they didn’t have any fancy apps etc., you were lucky if they even had a camera. Another observation of e-tickets, they do hold up queues at gatelines when people have to...

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

I wonder how many of the posters on this thread have iPhones and how many use Android phones. In my experience as a longtime iPhone user even a fairly new phone tends to run the battery down quite quickly. I believe Android phones have more resilient batteries, although I don’t have any proof of...

Euston station toilets in a disgusting state

That's only 12 days ago, give them a chance! I'm not over-impressed with Wigan Wallgate, for one thing more often than not they are locked out of use due to flooding (presume weather related not human related) or some other reason. Always use the Wgan North Western ones before or after...

Euston station toilets in a disgusting state

Likewise at Lime Street. On Friday we were being told to use the facilities in the Wetherspoons pub adjacent to the station toilets. There's only eight cubicles for the Ladies, and sometimes the queue is out onto the concourse.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

So you're sitting at home planning a trip, flexible about time and happy to stick to a specific train. Up come the Advance tiers, the cheapest one showing "One ticket left at this price". Could you reserve it there and then, and go to a ticket office to collect it? Or would you have to scoot...

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

You can get a neat little pocket size 5000 mAh power bank in TK Maxx for a tenner. Should be more than adequate to give almost a full charge to most phones. You'd probably have a charging cable with you anyway, or £1.50 in a Poundstretcher type shop.
