    London Buses Discussion

Hate to be like this as there is of course no skill involved in riding the superloop all the way round. But I think an optimal run could be achieved going from Thamesmead to North Woolwich (naturally) on a Sunday morning.. dependent on arriving slightly early in to Bromley North and making a 1...

    London Buses Discussion

Did a journey today starting at Walthamstow and doing the whole thing clockwise (under the Thames in the Woolwich Foot Tunnel and traipsing across to Thamesmead on the 472). Full journey time 7 hours 15 minutes. Definitely quicker with the empty roads at 0530 on a Sunday. Only significant...

Freedom Pass + BZ6 on EMR to Luton

    Thanks for the answer.

Freedom Pass + BZ6 on EMR to Luton

I note the presence of previous threads on similar topics but I could not find a satisfactory answer. I would be grateful if somebody could confirm the validity of a ticket combination of a Luton Airport Parkway - BZ6 single coupled with a freedom pass, on EMR trains (i.e. the so called Luton...

    London to Calais?

It used to be that you would simply buy the London to Calais train ticket for little over 30 quid and there you were. Understanding staff at St. Pancras would even sell you the high-speed supplement saving one the bother of taking the slow train to Dover. What a shame that ticket has been withdrawn.

Set-down/Pick-up only: Consequences of breaking the rules?

An old favourite - if the train does not pick up passengers at this station then I have not boarded it here..

TOC-specific long-term promotions that are only available direct

This was pre-pandemic I believe, the exact dates can't be certain.

TOC-specific long-term promotions that are only available direct

I had some very angry LNER ticket staff in the KGX office tell me they couldn't sell tickets to Calais the last time (possibly for good) I used the P&O offer. Presumably they thought I meant a Eurostar ticket. Southeastern were gently persuaded to sell me one along with a HS supplement.

Excess single to return - time limits

Oh that is very clever as I had (wrongly) banked on the reverse ticket being available..

Excess single to return - time limits

Well in that case I will not go in with high hopes if it comes to taking the train back. Thank you both.

Excess single to return - time limits

Hi, I'm going to be travelling to Stansted Airport (SSD) by train tomorrow, returning after 10 days, but unsure if I will be taking the train or bus back. I thus plan to buy a boundary zone 6 - SSD anytime single, and get it excessed to a return if needs be. I have previously done this in a...

    Class 345 progress

TfL Rail trains on the former Heathrow Connect I have used in recent days have been 9 cars.

European Sleepers - What routes would be feasible?

There must be a way to tie in a high-speed sleeper train with the idea of the package holiday in Spain. Get on the train at St. Pancras, stress not about going to the airport at all, sleep it all off, wake up on the Costa del Sol, transfer to the resort.

    Renfe scrapping all sleeper services

And yet the rail offer remains so poor, and the prospect of any sort of HSR was killed off by the financial crisis. Even right now a 'day train' would still take forever.

    Renfe scrapping all sleeper services

And in the interim was still vaguely kind of possible but a candidate for the faff of the year awards.
