Trivia: trains which divide into more than two sections

It may be a mistake or a misunderstanding (train splits are often not intuitive on the display screens). The Caterham and Tattenham Corner sections split at Purley. Those trains are now usually 10 car splitting into 2x 5 car.

TRIVIA: NR Stations with departure screens for another (NR) station

Well the obvious one is that Coulsdon South also has Coulsdon Town departures on the screens just beside the ticket barriers (for the up platform at least). Not particularly impressed with Geoff’s video. It was visiting “all stations on the Tattenham Corner line“, yet he missed the first one...

Overcrowding on the Piccadilly Line (Heathrow Branch)?

Ultimately, when the Purple trains run through central London I see relief for the Piccadilly line. Yes it will cost more but not an extortionate amount, and the end to end journeys (to most places) will be substantially quicker. It will help if Heathrow Airport properly advertise the purple...

Deleted. Got the wrong end of the stick.

    (TRIVIA) Most indirect through train

Queenstown Road to Vauxhall via the same Kingston loop (other way round) would be longer. 62 minutes vs 3 minutes. And you could do the journeys on Oyster/Contactless so no problem there. On the Tube, Paddington Praed Street to Egdware Road anti-clockwise on the Circle line vs a 2 minute non...

Trivia: most circuitous route between 2 stations on same line

Ladbroke Grove to Notting Hill Gate are 1 mile apart by road (walking) but about 13.5 miles on the Circle line without changing.

You're at Notting Hill Gate and want to go to Kings Cross with heavy luggage

Seeing as it’s not step free to the platforms at NHG, I’d say the only step free journey would be by bus. That’s two buses, or the 27 to Paddington (for the H&C station) or Warren St. (for the Victoria line, with one step up at the station entrance).

How much of the Underground map have YOU covered (continued)?

I rode the tube to Chesham and then took a bus to Amersham (got to the stop just as a 1A was ready to leave). Had I gone back to Chalfont & Latimer and changed I wouldn’t have made it back to the family before 8pm. And I made sure I took the tube. There was a Chiltern from Amersham to...

How much of the Underground map have YOU covered (continued)?

All done! I knocked off the Watford, Chesham and Amersham branches of the Met yesterday. With only 2tph to both Amersham and Chesham it took a while. And I suddenly thought I hadn’t done Kew Gardens to Richmond, so just to be safe I covered that this afternoon. So that’s the whole Underground...

Trivia: Stations with no scheduled services passing through non-stop

Kenley, Whyteleafe and Whyteleafe South on the Caterham line. Belmont and Banstead on the Epsom Downs line. I was ready to type in all stations on the the Tattenham Corner line but then remembered the Derby Day semi fasts.

Why are trains stopping at Clapham Junction more busy towards Waterloo than Victoria?

Quite. And a lot of those from the Croydon area and south heading to the City and Canary Wharf go to London Bridge/City Thameslink. And yes, Southern services only serve one half of Victoria, the other half being Southeastern.

How much of the Underground map have YOU covered (continued)?

That's T5, B and C concourses to A for arriving pax. There's also a shuttle going out from T5A to B and C for departures. There's never been a Monument bay. You probably mean the Mansion House bay, but that's no longer in service and the tracks have been removed.

passenger confusion over trains going to similar sounding destinations

A teenage couple (both 19). They got suspicious when the Sydney flight was on a turbo prop. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/oops-british-couple-flies-to-canada-by-mistake-1.353972
