The reversal is not signalled for passenger train movements, additional signalling would be needed. AIUI reversals can be made under local signaller control, but not on a regualr basis, but I am not an industry professional.
I doubt there is any re-opened line that would be commercially viable in the sense being talked about, and what has recently been said publicly about S-C indicates they are specifically looking at reducing the likely cost. But the benefits of any such scheme go far wider than BCR, and there is...
You're quite right with regard to Skipton to Colne, and SELRAP has said in the past few days there are studies underway to take the process forward.
With regard to Hellifield, while regular passenger services can be introduced from Clitheroe without capital expenditure, but obviously they would...
It was announced a few days ago that Skipton-Colne had moved forward to the 'develop' stage, so it is not a "new idea" as far as this process is concerned, it, like Ashington in the north east, is ahead of the pack and pressing froward....
It's off topic and Wortley curve may prove to be impractical, but for my money it would make sense to give the Calder valley a through service to Sheffield etc.
Excellent, many thanks indeed for producing this list... I see that Skipton-Colne has moved forward a stage according to today's reports, and Now in the DfT's 'develop phase.
Some of the doomsters and Jeremiahs on this forum are more than depressing, why not support an innovative, quick win proposal, why waste typing fingers being negative.
Some posters have hit the nail on head. Bradford is a major city with dreadful rail links except east-west: it very much needs...
A thread on another forum indicates that Network Rail’s Leeds Station improvement website says that Platform Zero at Leeds station will be complete early next year
https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/north-and-east/leeds-station-improvements
But Network Rail’s...
Thanks for that link, most useful. The Network Rail October 2019 enhancements delivery plan says the whole project will be complete Dec 2021, but I am guessing that includes the rest of the project, not just Platform 0.
But that's going off topic, and there is a thread on Leeds Imps elsewhere.
In this context it might be worthwhile re-iterating here that for some time now Network Rail's published completion date for platform zero and the associated track and signalling works, is December 2021, and given the virus situation, that is almost certain to slip till May 2022 at the least.
Moving forward a stage, this Written Answer from Friday's Hansard to mull over...
Hilary Benn (Leeds Central): To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the capacity of Leeds train stations to cope with the predicted increase in passenger demand over the next...
I am grateful you have worked that out!! When the 333s were first introduced the Standard circuit was different and the round-trip time was seven hours, requiring 14 units, hence why 16 were acquired. One early morning train was formed on a 158, and there was one extra diagram at peak times, so...
