Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Nos 001 and 020 currently sat in Holgate Reception Sidings in York, in a consist with a bunch of barrier wagons and two Rail Adventure power cars.

GWR 16X hitting tree near Dorking (02/04)

If there's a tree down on an active railway that clearly constitutes an emergency so I'd be ringing 999 if there were no other options.

    Seat Reservation and overcrowding.

Indeed, a few years ago I had a reserved seat on the North Wales coast, but on boarding it transpired that my seat was a priority seat occupied by an elderly lady with a walking frame. I sure as hell wasn't going to ask her to move. The problem there was with the TOC that thought it was...

    Northern Rail -Travel Incident Report

Presumably you had an advance ticket for the 12:18 departure but got on the 12:26 instead. Advance tickets are ONLY valid for the specified train, so you didn't have a valid ticket for your journey. A bit harsh to issue a TIR here though, could have just sold you a ticket.

    ECML Problems - 14/02/2024

See above - that is 1S31. Everyone put on a bi-mode set at Doncaster and got to York about 15 mins ago, where I alighted. It is supposedly going as far as Newcastle but not sure what happens to folk for points north of there.

    Storm Henk travel disruption 02/01/24

Indeed, although according to the model based on data from the Viking recorder, levels peaked late last night and should now fall steadily. High but of course not particularly unusual for the location (I live just off Skeldergate). The Kings Arms has been closed for many weeks because as soon...

Class 158 or 333 smoking at Leeds

I saw something similar with a 158 in Platform 1 at York last week. The unit was switched off and there was that much smoke that I sought out a member of platform staff. By the time I'd done that and we'd gone to have a look, the smoke had cleared. The staff member said it wasn't that uncommon...

    TPE 'Abysmal' Performance

So why hold the Northern service when it would run clear of the Scarborough anyway? I'm sure there will have been a reason, but it looks baffling on the face of it.

New northern DMU’s due in 2022 as of yet unclassified.

Indeed, and they are not 100 mph units either. Max speed 90 mph.

Have TPE finally given up on the Scarborough service

The 0738 was meant to start from York at 0837 instead. The unit was still in platform 2 when I got there to get the 0852 to Manchester Airport (I normally get the 0844 XC, but this was cancelled, presumably due to yesterday's ECML issues). I think it eventually departed 20-25 minutes late.

Severe overhead wire damage near York 02/12

Seems a bit odd to describe it as the "Strensall area", Strensall is on the Scarborough line so there are no wires there. It's a good 5 or 6 miles away from the ECML.

Have TPE finally given up on the Scarborough service

If Transdev put on something like the Leeds-York ZAP bus between Scarborough and York I think it would do pretty well. At least you'd have a chance of leaving / getting to Scarborough.

Collision and derailment at Neville Hill Depot (13/11/2019)

Went past this on the way to work this morning, a bit of a mess. It also looked there was a bogie further down the train that was derailed. Going to take a while to sort out I imagine.

TPE Nova 3 (Class 68 + Mk5s) updates and withdrawal from service

If 1F74 is the 1644 off Scarborough, the answer is no as this was also a 185.

Incident at Newark Northgate? (22 January)

Yes, sounds like a bit of a mess. My boss is on 1D11 (1105 KGX to LDS) and he's just arrived at Donny, just the 147 late having been diverted via Lincoln...
