  • For first aid, its voluntary if you want to get trained up, you get an extra day off a year if you do so.

    All shift managers have to be first aid and Defib trained so there is always somebody on the station who will be first aid trained, id say about half our CSA's are first aid trained and most incidents are slips, trips and falls, mainly involving alcohol and escalators but there have been times were defibs and serious incidents occur. Literally anything can happen in a train station it's impossible to predict!

    I'm currently in the CSA role with Network Rail so I'll try to answer anything you would like to know.
    For suspicious packages we follow the HOT protocol.
    H, hidden - is the item hidden out of view or just left in a public area
    O, obviously suspicious - does it strongly suggest it is a bad package rather than misplaced.
    T, typical of its surrounding - i.e a rucksack by seating area versus a rucksack tucked away by a non public area.
    You won't be asked about this in your interview, but handy to know that BTP are there for support and the left luggage facilities have x ray scanners for booking in the
