The first S7 unit is now out and about...
The first in service was actually 21305/306.

According to the google spreadsheet there are 2 S7s in service. can anyone concour this?
2 are currently available for the 1 working, T700.

Will they be entering full service before the Olympics?
Basically no. The infrastructure east of Liverpool Street will not be ready until "later in the year".

Yes, for initial testing only.
A lot of work needs to be done; signals moved for sighting, cameras aligned (S7s don't use existing equipment), stopping chevrons erected, platform end barriers moved.

I never said it was the first in service but the first S7 unit (in the numbering sense).

The intrastructure is more sidings being able to cope than stations isn't it?

Apologies for the misunderstanding, you could take that sentence either way.

The only work needed at Barking sidings has been the moving of signals and walking routes which is almost complete.

It's wasn't the best worded post ever.

Ah so not fa then, take it Barking won't see an S7 now till after the Olympics? Can they run as far as Plastow to get the S7's to serve Olympic traffic?

Unfortunatly neither West Ham or Plaistow until "later in the year" because of the issues I mentioned earlier.
So far only Aldgate East, Whitechapel and West Ham are station compliant for S7s.

So why don't they run s7's to west ham to serve the Olympics and reverse them at West Ham instead of Moorgate?

Because the work hasn't been done for them to run that far yet?!

The West Ham turn back was built a few years ago (by Crossrail) due to Whitechapel becoming two tracks only. Plus S stock have on board camera so don't need OPO gear.

Shame as they could have been great or wowing the crowds!

S Stock use new platform mounted camera equipment as the previous installations are setup for platform-end monitor boxes, which project onto the in-cab monitors, they do not have camera equipment on board for OPO use.

That is rather an interesting solution, though one I feel may be more susceptible to interruption/corruption than a purely onboard system, or purely offboard!

But one which has existed for yonks, track-to-train CCTV was first used on the 1992 stock on the Central line and all later trains with minimal problems. A far safer solution too, as the platform is still visible even after the point at which platform-mounted OPO mirrors/monitors would have been passed.

Does anybody have the diagrams for the 3 S7 stocks that are now in service?
Already posted at #16 in this thread:

The S7 'preview service'/training runs:
T700 M-F "runs as required":
1007 Hammersmith-Moorgate 1040
1055 MGT-HMS 1127
1128 HMS-MGT 1202
1210 MGT-HMS 1241
1428 HMS-MGT 1502
1510 MGT-HMS 1541.

The 4 S7s delivered rotate onto this 1 working.

Went on my first S stock last Saturday and they are excellent; very quiet but also cooler than all other stock, complete change having to get on the boiling 1992 stock to Stratford!

Even if the S7s had the heaters on full power, they'd be cooler than the C-stock they replace!! I can't think of any stock that has been hotter, after being left out in the sun and with no openable windows and terrible ventilation to cool things down once on the move.

A real shame too, as the trains aren't actually that bad and had plenty of room inside. Not as much as now, though.

Possibly due to the fact they are the first production UndegrounD trains fitted with air conditioning.

I know that!

Also you're right danuzumi, haven't been to London since December 2010, luckily got on the A stock then:D But I must say the Underground is a great thing to have, envy it where I live

T700 M-F "runs as required":
2028 Hammersmith-Moorgate 2102
2110 MGT-HMS 2141
2142 HMS-MGT 2217
2225 MGT-HMS 2257.

I see that there are now 4 S7s available. Is there any word on when they'll become available for full operation on the Hammersmith and city line?
Also are they cleared for any other sections (not including the met line, such as southern section of the circle line)?

Work is still progressing on moving signals at Barking sidings, platform camera alignment to Barking for the full services to start "towards the year end" maybe with the new WTT28 from 9 December.
The rest of the Circle is not yet cleared for S7 passenger operation, again signal repositioning, platform camera alignment still ongoing at most locations.

presumably for a lot of that work the S7s they have now are running over those sections out-of-hours?

Not just at the moment of course, with The Games taking place.
The next time will be Sat 15 September between Earl's Court-Wimbledon during the scheduled closure.

I've heard many rumours that the entry into normal service, rather than the Moorgate 'preview', will be with December's timetable change.

The first S7+1 21319+21320 has been delivered for the MET. These 3 will be available once the first S8 is returned to Derby.

Also 21309+21310 has been delivered for the H&C so should rotate onto T700 with the other 4.

S7s testing Gloucester Road-Tower Hill today.
