I see the Daleks are to feature in the first story of the new series on Saturday BBC1.

My sincere hope is that Davros will be involved somewhere in the proceedings,as the creator of the Daleks he should be

Perhaps he may feature at the Paralympics (a cunning ruse)

I'm looking forward to it, there is a trailer on YouTube by the way (the same one as on the TV)

Would anyone like to guess the storyline? Maybe davros and the old daleks vs the new daleks?

Is Davros definitely in it then ?

I don't know, it was just a suggestion of something that could be interesting.

I doubt Davros will be in it, Moffat is more reluctant to bring back as many classic characters than Davies was.

In my view apart from The Doctor and The Master Davros is the most iconic character in the series and Moffatt should bring him back :p

I agree, and he may well do. But it seems Moffat prefers to do his own thing rather than bring back old favourites, judging from his previous series. He even gave the daleks a make over!

I do hope I am wrong though!

As I understand it the Daleks need help and approach The Doctor. It would make more sense to have Davros resurrected from his last "resting place" - I forget what his fate was it's that long since his last appearance. As creator of the Daleks he is the obvious choice.

Speaking generally it must be time for a "Five Doctors" adventure....Smith, Tennant, Ecclestone, McCoy, Baker x2 ?????, and even old Davidson as well.
That's The Seven Doctors ....forget McGann in that american rubbish

They all have to team up to fight a "dastardly alliance" between The Master, The Cybermen and The Daleks with Sontarans and Sea Devils et al.

What a brilliant idea for a wonderful story, what true whovian would not relish the prospect :p

I think that would be fantastic, but can't see it happening with the present producers.

Also, McGann would probably be included, as Tennant's John Smith notebook contained sketches of all the Doctor's - including Mr McGann, so the BBC has acknowledged his existence!

Of cours,e the great thing about time travel is it allows all sorts of plots, the different doctors may never meet, but just confront the same enemy/problem in their own timelines, which has been done by Star Trek, so may not be appealing!

Errr, Smethwick!
The eighth Doctor got such a raw deal.

But Paul McGann is every bit as official a Doctor as MCoy and Ecclestone, even though the ill-fated idea of co-production - and therefore the poorly received TV movie which was supposed to launch the new incarnation of the genre - meant his was the shortest on-screen tenure ever.

I'd love the BBC to go back and fill in the gaps of what happened next, give us a story about the Time War, show why and when McGann regenerated into Ecclestone - and, yes, perhaps include a two doctors/three doctors/five doctors strand.

Perfect project for the 50th anniversary year in 2013, I would have hoped, but it doesn't look likely now.

Those who have seen the episode have said Davros is not in it. I think 45 minutes isn't long enough to tell a story involving not only all the previous versions of the Daleks but Davros as well! Davros deserves more focus in a story than he would get in this one :)

Moffat is leaving after episode 5 so we could well get Davros later in the series.

I'm personally glad they're getting the Daleks out of the way so soon, I find them overdone but kinda a neccessity for a DW series at this point.

A tip for you that opens up possibilities, the Girl who starred in the first episode is playing the new companion to be introduced in the Christmas special, she has the same surname as the female charachter in this episode but a different first name suggesting a relative.

It was an excellent episode, really well executed. Good to see the Daleks being scary again.

I agree. It was also good to see the new version Daleks together with the old versions.

The script was fast and witty as well.

I think the new 'assistant to be' Jenna-Louise Coleman is incredibly pretty. Going to be a must see when she is on...:D. Thank heavens for iPlayer..!!

I remember her playing "ashleys daughter" in Emmerdale !!!

Regarding the episode it was ok but could have been so much better if Davros had been "in charge of the Asylum"

Any Whovian would tell you that - does Moffat lack creativity

I suspect Moffat would argue that it is more creative tot hink of new ways of doing thigns than to keep on bringing back the same old characters over and over again.

She does look nice, not a patch on Karen Gillan though ;)

Was a decent episode I thought, kept me entertained all the way through. I knew that girl wasn't all she seemed from very early on though.

Thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode. Personally I thought the Daleks would feature again in the series but after the events in the episode, I don't suppose that will happen now. I am looking forward to next week's episode. :)

True, but we had to wait 20 years between 1988 and 2008 for an appearance from Davros (including the programmes hiatus)

Arriviste "Who Fans" should not be pandered to - having a dalek adventure without Davros is somewhat akin to a James Bond film without "Q" - whoops

Have you ever seen "Revelation of the Daleks or Genesis of the Daleks" - this was not a patch on either - 45 mins is not enough for Daleks :p

You should have seen her in "Room at the Top" the other night - I'm sure she won't be "so exposed" in Dr Who

She is fairly attractive but not a patch on Romana (1st incarnation)

While I'm on who is the supreme "Master"

Delgado ?

Ainley?

Simm?

Delgado for me and I suspect most older viewers

Well unless Moffat is going to take the series in a very different direction...

It was good to see the Weeping Angels back again in Sunday's episode and I thought the episode as a whole was really good. Personally they're my favourite of the 'new' villains and actually probably one of my all time favourite Who villains.
