Can anyone recommend a good mid-upper range hotel in Munich please?

Prefer central (or short journey into the city).

Thanks

Most likely at the lower end of what you are looking at but the Golden Leaf Hotel in Perlach was pretty nice for the price in August when me and my girlfriend visited. It is within a few minutes walk of an S/U-bahn station (Neu-Perlach Süd) that has very frequent U-bahn services to the centre, and less frequent but still regular S-bahn services to the centre, via Ost-bahnhof.

I will ask my brother and get back to you. He was there a few weeks ago with a view overlooking, I think, a main railway station or junction.

try Motel One, there are 3 in Munich. One by Donnersburgerbrucke, opposite main line west of Munich HBF, handy for Augustiner Brewery, one at Sendlinger Tor, handy for city centre & one by Ostbahnhof

My brother and his wife were in Munich recently. This is what he says:-

"The hotel is a Marriott, Munich East. There’s more than one Marriott hotel in Munich , this is the newest one. Its not the most expensive Marriott hotel and it does overlook the Ostbahnhof which is Munich east station. The tram runs from outside the hotel or you can walk to the Ostbahnhof and catch the S bahn or U bahn into the centre. It’s not central but it’s only a short ride into the centre of town.".

Hope that helps.

Regards

Germany has a number of good hotels called "Inter-City" they are good, clean not too dear and often attached to main line stations, they often have great buffet breakfasts, like many German and Dutch Hotels.

Regardless of where you stay in Munich (Centre), you'll find some inexpensive eating places, in the Hauptbahnhof itself. GOSCH is one such place (It's a fish bar).
