Interesting, I agree with you that it seems legitimate. It also seems to base tours around what Bradshaw recommended back in the 1860s, all the listed tours get that feeling and there's a quote from his guide about the destinations on every tour page.

Not that new. They planned at least one tour this year but I don't think it ran. From what I've read on another forum and in Railways Illustrated I think I'll be giving them a miss. Apparently the person behind it is a Roger Hardingham previously of Kingfisher Railtours.

The man behind it is Roger Hardingham who previously ran Kingfisher Tours.
It is indeed. Some "interesting" comments about him online.

A quick look at his directors profile shows he was previously a director of the disolved Wessex Trains Ltd and that South Coast Railway Ltd was incorporated on the 22 March.

Well good luck to them. We need some 'new' blood in the charter market to keep it going. Lets hope the prices are reasonable.

A great deal of discussion regarding this same company has been had on another popular railway forum. I'm no expert on these matters, but I for one will not be going anywhere near the company or it's tours after what I have read by some very angry/upset individuals on the other forum.

Guessing were it not for the vast number of 'Muppets' out there who appear to have more money than sense - there would far fewer railtours and railtour promoters ?
After so many disappointments (cancellations) and so much frustration ('railtour standard time', 'dry' buffets half way through, dysfunctional toilets...) - it be beyond me why so many still part so readily with their hard earned cash !
Masochistics ? :?

and for the benefit of those people who are not members of "another popular rail forum", would you be so kind as to share the reasons why these people are upset / angry and why would not go near this company?

Considering on yet another popular railway forum the person behind this venture has threatened legal action against an editor of a certain railway magazine I would guess no - if they have any sense, at least not unless they have first hand knowledge.

"Threats of legal action" tend to be nonsense, indeed I always make it absolutely clear that I look forward to representing myself and repeating my comments in court under oath.

Actual legal action is worth taking note of though.

People behind Kingfisher from a few years ago, seems they came to a sticky end with monies owed to various parties.

As are a large proportion of things posted on internet forums, and printed in railway magazines. If you want to post details then I'm sure someone will be kind enough to send you a link to the threads in question.

I won't be booking on any of their tours but I will also not be copying and pasting 'something I read on the internet' and claiming it to be 100% factual when I have no idea if it is.

Currently still awaiting a refund of monies owed for atrip that didn't operate. Despite assurances two months ago the money would be returned it hasn't. The matter is now being pursued through my bank.

All i will say on the subject of charter firms is that good customer service will be reciprocated by repeat bookings with railtour companies.
