I guess this is the programme with the working title 'Network Rail', as mentioned in BBC press release of upcoming programmes much of which appear to be railway orientated. 6 hour-long episodes apparently, it will be interesting to see if it works as well as The Tube which is getting another series.

Maybe, the Railwatch is something that we could get Video125 to put out on DVD as both Paul Coia and Rob Curling have done voiceovers for some of their drivers eye view DVD's.

Given that 2013 is the 50th anniversary of the Beeching Report I suspect there'll be quite a few railway programmes this year!

I didn't think it sounded the same but there seem to be lots of railway programmes around at the moment. Not complaining though!

I never saw any cameras but who knows, I might be in some background footage somewhere!

Funny how staff can moan at you or I with a camera at a station, yet didn't have a problem letting a film crew film passengers without their knowledge for broadcast around the world (rest assured, BBC Worldwide will probably make a fair few quid selling this overseas). :D

If it's been made by Century films, wouldn't they be the ones selling it overseas?

If this is correct, then the article states:
In the spring there will be a collection of programmes shining the spotlight on British rail. ... Network Rail (w/t) offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Britain's rail network...

Depends who owns the rights. If the BBC commissioned it and outsourced production to Century, the BBC will own it. I am not sure how many programmes are sold to the BBC, if any?

According to an e-mail I have been sent, it will a six-part series of one-hour programmes titled: "The Railways: Keeping Britain on Track". The transmission dates have not been finalised as yet but the first program is expected to be aired early next month. Locations featured include King's Cross, Leeds, Reading, Paddington, Euston, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the West Highland line.

Yes but it has been brought up and as its a BBC documentary about railways it's related

Aye Sir, but I read it as you saying you'd seen a promo for the NR one. Had to go and check and saw it was Dan Snow. Looks good none the less.

Right so does anyone actually know when the Network Rail/ BBC programme ( "The Railways: Keeping Britain on Track") is actually going to be on? It's not Tuesday at 9pm thats 'locomotion' or something

Latest I have heard is "A transmission date is yet to be finalised by BBC but we expect it to be the first week in February and run on a primetime evening slot on BBC2."

Keeping Britain on track will be 6 episodes (hour long I think)

The six episodes are based around the following:

1. King’s Cross
2. Leeds
3. Reading
4. West Coast Main Line
5. Railways and communities
6. Scotland

Don't want to give away too much detail!

As previously mention supposed to be early Feb, so not long to go now!

I hope number 5 will include small towns that need the railway to survive

I do hope that there is something on the GWML electrification/ Upgrade as that would be as interesting as the West Coast Mainline and have lots in common recently.

I believe it is more the impact the railways have on those living nearby.

In response to musicking, I haven't heard anything about electrification as part of it. Lot's of project stuff though so may get a mention!

The episodes cover a very broad range of things, I am really looking forward to it!
