I joined this forum in 2010 for a few reasons. As well as speaking to people with similar interests, my main reason was to learn what I could about becoming a Driver.

I have read posts, interacted with people, PM'd people who have been kind enough to give me advice, insight and confidence to apply for jobs.

On the 18th February 2013 I got a call to say I had passed all of the exams, tests, interviews and barring anything going wrong with a medical, I am to live out my dream role. I am becoming a Train Driver. My medical was a success and I become a Trainee Train Driver on April 8th.

This is in no small part to the brilliant threads, posts, info, replies and PM's from many on here that I have used to my advantage to land the job of a lifetime.

So here's to you faceless friends.....THANK YOU!!!

I hope one day something I am able to share here can allow someone to follow in my footsteps too! :D:D:D

It certainly wasn't easy, especially the assessments but so happy I passed!

I want to echo what GNER posted. I too have followed the forum and have had help directly and indirectly off the posters on here. I have been extremely lucky as it is my first ever attempt to get a driving role with a TOC. and have also been given a conditional offer of employment (confirmed via email today) for a start date of April 8th with FGW. Thank you everybody and good luck to those still going through the process.

Thank you for your thanks, a whole hearted congratulations and it sounds that, like me, you will make it your mission to help others in turn! Well done and if only the rest of the forums could work that way....

The ratios always made me shudder but hey someone needs to fill those 10 vacancies so why shouldn't it be you! Stay positive you can do it! ;)

And thanks!
