Hi folks

On 28 March I'm getting married, and taking 40 or so guests from a curry house near Strawberry Hill to a pub in St Margarets, by train. I was wondering if I cold tie a white ribbon to the front of the 1838 Strawberry Hill to St Margarets, and thought the best thing I could do is write to the depot manager. Does anyone have a contact there they could PM me?

If a ribbon isn't possible I'd at least like it if the destination blind could go to 'special' for photographs!

Cheers
Simon

Possibly write a letter to South West Trains customer relations?

There are members of this forum who work for SWT, so they may be able to advise, if my mind remembers one forum member was a Strawberry Hill depot guard.

The Group Travel people are available at 023 8072 8162 (opening hours: 0830-1730, Monday to Friday). They may be able to help with your wedding guests' travel and any special ideas like the ones you've mentioned above.

I would think a destination blind change would be in order and could be done. Also, I'd see if it may be possible to get a special PA announcement or two (it has certainly been done for other special occasions on the Southern network, but I don't know about SWT). I'm not so sure ribbons would be possible on every unit in case they got caught in something, but it's definitely worth asking.

Good luck! :D

Hiya, thanks for your replies. The reason I asked for a depot contact is I'd already emailed SWT group travel and they were disappointingly corporate in their response. IE Told me to get a groupsave 4 ticket and didn't reply to my question about ether a ribbon would be possible. I thought a direct approach to staff on the ground might work better, just wondered who to email or who to address the letter to.

As the Kingston rounders only have 8 minutes at Waterloo and to fit a ribbon would require a line block and somebody (with PTS)) to actually fit it it wont be possible in the time, what you might be able to arrange is for a headboard to be carried (as long as it doesnt cover any of the front lights) or even easier would be a board inside the non driving side window, it would need to have an arm at the back to support it but could take up the whole window.

edit-

That train will be in service from about 0500 so would need to have the ribbon fitted (if it was possible) at {whichever depot it starts from*} overnight, what sort of condition it would be in after flapping around on the front all day would be anyones guess.

* It could start from either Strawberry Hill, Wimbledon, Waterloo or Clapham yard depending on the diagram.

Further to the above messages, we had a super wedding on March 28th. See the attached pic!

Can anyone tell me which 455 was on the 1838 Strawberry Hill to Waterloo on March 28? I forgot to note which unit we were on, and in the future I'd like to know if I'm travelling in my 'wedding limousine' when commuting to work in the mornings!
