I see East Coast are offering all their Reward offerings at 20% off this week. Will there be a rush? Are you going to take advantage? My opinion - It is quite a generous offer. What do others think.

I might look on this offer more favourably if I were able to get the link to work on EC's site to the offer terms & conditions.

Does it mean you can convert points to free tickets at a discount and still have 6 months to use the discounted tickets?

I'm pretty sure that's the case, although I haven't found anything to definitely confirm/deny that.

It should also be noted that East Coast now have an availability search function, so you can check before you redeem. Extremely useful, it's nice to see they're doing what consumers want. Can be found here.

You also get double points on bookings over £22

I was hoping to book some advance tickets with the 100% bonus points, in order to redeem points at a discount.

Having booked the tickets earlier this week, I have been allocated points at the normal rate, but the bonus points haven’t appeared yet. Whilst I can see why they may delay issuing the bonus points, it isn’t mentioned in the T&Cs.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Yes, I bought £250 worth of tickets yesterday and have received just the standard rate of points today.

Hi,

Joined up yesterday, and only received my confirmation email this morning - guess their systems are running "slowly" !!

One question I can't seem to resolve via their FAQ section is this - If I want to book a journey where the cost is less than £22 (and therefore does not qualify for reward points), is it possible to book a second journey to take the total cost over the magic £22 ??? If it is possible, are there any restrictions, such as the second journey must be on the same date as the first journey ?

Yes it is, and no there aren't. You don't even have to travel the second journey. But if any journey in your booking is not an advance, you won't get points until around 9 weeks after the outbound travel date.

The rewards are based on the “transaction spend”, so if you combined more journeys in one transaction I think you will qualify. I suspect that the products that don't apply refers to things like Superbreak hotel spend :

"3 You will earn Points whenever you spend £22 or more (including the amount of any credit card fees, postage and VAT paid on that transaction) on qualifying Products in a single transaction. Where your total transaction spend is less than £22, you will only earn Points if the specific Products you have bought qualify for Points irrespective of the overall amount paid in the transaction, as specified by East Coast from time to time".

Thanks Trainlincs – it’s well hidden, as it only seems to be mentioned under a headline relating to new members

I'm not sure that is correct.

I bought some tickets on-line on Wednesday and the Points were in my account on Thursday. On Thursday, I used the points to 'buy' 2 tickets (at the reduced rate of 360 points for a first class single), and at the same time I bought more tickets on-line.
Today, (Friday), the points from yesterday's purchase are now in my account's running total.

Hello, first post here. Very useful site.

Just a quick question regarding East Coast's Rewards Bonus Week.

I've booked several tickets during the period but have just noticed that the points allocated in my "recent activity" are the usual 1 point standard and 1.5 points 1st class. Is this correct? I was expecting to see 2 points standard and 3 points 1st class. I'm not sure what my previous balance was though so am unable to see if the overall points balance has gone up x 2 or by the usual amount.

Just to clarify: we were originally querying the whereabouts of the 100% bonus points, not the standard entitlement

Welcome to the forum.

You should be able to see the point allocation for each ticket purchased in the relavent section. The promotion started on the 25th (I think) so purchases before this date won't count. If there has been an error use the 'contact us' function. When I had an error it was corrected very quickly.

Ok thanks for the replies. I read the terms as saying the 50 bonus points for new users would be added 12/4, not points overall.
I'll have of the thread mentioned.

Just to confirm, the 6 months you have to buy the tickets you get with your points just refers to the point at which you buy the tickets, so in theory I could redeem some today and buy some tickets at the end of September actually for travel up to 12 weeks after that?
