Sorry if this is a stupid question or if I'm asking in the wrong place.

At present, if I post in a thread, the board considers me to be "subscribed" to that thread, and sends me email notifications about subsequent replies posted by others.

To reduce the volume of emails, I have unsubscribed from all the threads to which I was subscribed, but presumably if I post again in the same or future threads, it will consider me to have resubscribed, and will restart notifying me about those threads.

I would like to permanently switch off the email notifications. Is this possible, and if so how?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Go ...

User CP / Under Settings & Options select Edit Options / Under Messaging & Notification find Default Thread Subscription Mode

and select "No email notification" from the drop-down menu.

Many thanks.

I see I have the choice of "No email notification" and "Do not subscribe". Is there any practical difference between the two? Does being subscribed to a thread mean anything if you're not receiving email notification?

You're welcome.

If you 'subscribe' you can go to "User CP" and, on the main screen, see there (under 'New subscribed threads') what subscribed threads have been updated since you last looked.

If you subscribe to a thread you can find a list of all your subscribed threads by going to 'Quick Links' then from the drop down menu clicking 'Subscribed Threads'. I find that a useful feature for quickly keeping up with threads that I'm involved with. Otherwise, as far as I'm aware, there is no difference between the two options.

For anyone else finding this thread who doesn't want to decipher the instructions above you can follow this link, and it's under "Messaging & Notification ". :)
