Halifax to Burnley

Hello, this is my first post.

Why when travelling from Halifax to Burnley Manchester Road does the train go over the higher route at Dryclough Junction (I hope this is correct) and not around the lower level.

Welcome!

Because the lower route leads to Greetland Junction and on towards Brighouse. The train would have to reverse at Greetland Junction to reach Burnley (or the Todmorden route to Manchester).

Aye, it is a triangular junction there - very impressive structure the higher line is on too, I must say!
