...Between Partick and Hyndland is surely one of the most unfortunate for the Glasgow suburban lines. I counted 18 of the 28 trains due at Partick or Hyndland showing as cancelled, and at least some of the others are fictitious as well.

A bit of lateral thinking applied to services from Helensburgh through to Edinburgh:
Helensburgh Central - Edinburgh
Trains will operate between Helensburgh Central and Milngavie calling at stations via Yoker and Anniesland - passengers travelling to and from Glasgow are advised to change at Anniesland for an alternative service to / from Glasgow Queen
Passengers travelling towards Edinburgh from Helensburgh are advised tickets will be valid on alternative services operating between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh
Trains are also being planned to operate on this route between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Airdrie and Bathgate.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this is one of the busiest stretches of double track line outside London.

To be fair, this week in Glasgow has been nothing short of a travel disaster:

- Monday evening; Signalling problems at (again) Partick. It didn't require a line closure, but when I was there services were getting through every approx every 20-30 minutes. This station at rush hour normally has trains (in each direction) every 3-4 minutes. You do the math ;)

- Tuesday: Glasgow Subway suspended due to problem found in tunnel. Cathcart Circle suspended due to signalling fault.

- Wendesday: Glasgow subway part-suspended. Shuttle services running. Cathcart Circle signalling fault re-emerges, and services are suspended all evening.

- Thursday: Glasgow Subway part-suspended, only one circle running. Train fault at Bathgate causes minor rush-hour delays on North Clyde line.

- Friday: Glasgow Subway part-suspended, only one circle running.

-Saturday: Overhead wires down at Finnieston, resulting in the closure of 14 stations, 9 of which are within Glasgow. A basic shuttle service operating on North Clyde and Argyle Lines, not running to or from the city centre (except from Motherwell/Lanark - to Central high level). Network Rail reporting issue to continue until the 'end of service'.

- Sunday: Can all the trains be fixed? Please?!

They still need to move the train that's stuck partly on the bridge next to the depot.

Tool them about an hour to get the passengers off. Te network rail guys that turned up after 40 mins to the depot, didn't know the pass code for the gates and simply drove off.

Got the feeling that they hadn't planned the response that well.

Finnieston Maintenance Depot.

The incident was caused by a train travelling on the Helensburgh bound train . there was a large bang and the train emerged from the trees and the harness that makes contact with the overhead wires was bouncing up and down and the overhead wire was bouncing up and down too.

This train carried on toward Partick. About two minutes later, another train passed through and there was a similar bang and this time the train decelerated and stopped - the harness on this train seemed to be missing its top half and the overhead wire was misaligned with its retainers.

They're coupling the train up to another one right now to tow it.
