There is no guarantee the train will run at these times or route, it could go direct via Victoria, Aldgate to Watford without reversing.

Guessed that would be the case! I'll hang around at the top end for a while, no worries if I miss it! Thanks again. :)
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Ran pretty much to time today, although it left Acton late and turned at Rayners Lane in the platform rather than Ruislip. Off-railed around 1415 and left Northwood at around 1510.

Although I didn't see it myself, it also apparently ran parallel with one of the remaining A stock trains through Northwood (A stock on the fast), and would have passed Sarah Siddons and two battery locos somewhere on the Piccadilly, which went through about ten minutes before the C stock heading towards Acton(?) and minutes after I got off my train!

A pleasing day, particularly with the above two surprises (I grabbed the A stock in a couple of other places). I'll post a few photos up here later.

5528 must be the west/north unit, as that's how the train arrived at Acton, both 5588 5701 were facing east/south.

I am told it was 5528 + 5588 that Met* their end today, although I did not observe the run, being in Doncaster today.

*See what I did there?!

Correct - 5588+6588 left today, with 5528+6528 remaining at Northwood for I guess disposal later this week.

I saw very few people following the run, although five of us were gathered at Northwood for 'the end'.

I managed to observe all of today's ( 10th June ) C Stock diagrams thanks to my starting a 30 day photo permit today ( as an aside I cleared my last six C Stock units for photo today as well. :) ) and the full list is as below, although I must apologise for not noting which rake was on which diagram:

Quite easily, just make them an offer that makes it worthwhile.

I'm not sure. One of my local bus companies, who do a mixture of local services, private hire, film work and rail replacement, wanted to buy a whole 67 stock train but Booth's refused as apparently it was not allowed in the contract!*

*They wanted to buy the train under the official line of "so film crews could use it like they use our buses" but probably a little bit because the owner is an enthusiast!

The deal would be with CS Booth, for me to buy them from CS Booth.

I was provided their details by LU. I had first enquired with LU, and from that I got the details of CS Booth.

I guess it is time for another email with LU.

You will need to get it in writing on letterhead, I think, that TfL / LU are allowing you to negotiate with CF Booth otherwise Booth's will probably just refer you back to 55 Broadway...

To get agreement from the Underground you may well need to afree that it will be preserved at all times in a condition with which TfL / LU are happy; they are very protective of their image these days! ( For the same reasons you'll probably be told that you will definitely NOT be permitted to negotiate for units 5606 and 5734... )

Incidentally, you would only really need 4 cars rather than 6 to have a complete train - although a standard formation is 6 cars, remember that this is 3 x 2 car units. You can have a 4 car set with a cab at each end. To go for a 6 car set will straight away add 50% to your costs.

With 4 cars you could have one unit each of the C69 and C77 variants.

The main issue is asbestos and all the C69 versions contain asbestos, whereas the C77's don't (There may be a couple of places the 77's do and I will verify in due course). If you were to buy them the original vendor is responsible for it (in this case TfL) and for that reason they might now want anything to do with it.

Try to chase up the C77's when they go. Me and a select few are having a few snoops at trying to preserve a 4 car set, but nothing confirmed as of yet.

Pitty no one was able to preserve one or two of the 'Victoria Line' train sets.

No one wants to preserve any C69 stock, even if they must pay to remove the asbestos before they can collect it?

What about the D stock? Are they going to be given a second life?

I would say, you would need to remove the roundel and any words 'London Underground' from the train. If you where to pay for the painting over of that before it leaves CF booth?

How protective would they be of the 'Red white and blue' color scheme they are now using?

Have they trademarked or otherwise registered the red, white and blue livery?

Failing that you could always paint them in the proper colour scheme that they should have always had... red! :)

Looks like it's been freshly painted as well...

To be fair, reading the press release this appears to be the organisation that TfL gets a lot of engineers from, so it makes a lot of sense to have a redundant DM on site for training purposes doesn't it?

Where is the asbestos on a C69? I thought they would have removed it on refurbishment

Between the resistor grids and the chassis. Arc chutes have asbestos in them although they are changed to new types ones when they fail.

There's plenty of asbestos on the C69s and C77s, especially where interchangable parts have been used prior to Asbesdos isolation, it had all either been removed, or isolated. UTC Project needed this 'removed'.

Also, PCM Arc Chutes will have likely been changed a while back on campaign change, I've not come across many containing asbesdos...

I've added those to the spreadsheet I linked to on the first page of the thread. Also I noticed you have 5574 listed twice, I think '5574 + 5510 + 5558' should be '5714 + 5510 + 5558'.

This morning, I found the following message in my inbox

--------------------------------------

Thank you for your further email, and I apologise for the delay in replying.

The trains were sold to CF Booth for scrapping and in general we do not sell on old train carriages. This is because of REACH regulations regarding hazardous materials.

After further investigations it appears that the C stock trains you refer to will not be available for purchase because of these regulations. I'm sorry to disappoint you in this respect.

Please contact me again if you need any help in the future.

Kind regards

"not be available for purchase . . ." although we don't mind donating a few to Universities or Colleges.
