Myth number twelvety: TOCs force you to take the first train that arrives, even if it's full and standing and there's a relatively quiet train five minutes behind it.

Myth 1D90 East Midlands Trains' HSTs are better trains than their Meridian counterparts. From a non enthusiast passenger point of view, the Meridians will most likely be better as they include at seat power points and a DDA compliant wheelchair accessible toilet.

Myth 1V44 CrossCountry use their Voyagers more than their HSTs out of spite.

Hope people like how both of my myth numbers are relevant to the myth (:

Myth number 455: all the trains in the southeast are newer than the ones in the north of England.

Myth 455a: Commuter trains in the south-east are better than those in the north in every way, including their toilet provision.

Myth #455b: 455s are the oldest type of train in the south-east...

Myth number 145:

That thing at the other end of a 225 set from the Class 91 is called a Class 82

Myth #145a: It's a Class 43.

Myth xyz: "Birmingham's Curzon Street has magnificent Doric columns"

Of course, they're Ionic, deliberately to compliment and contrast with the Euston Arch columns which were Doric...

Myth HS2/2013/09-96-A: The HS2 station in Birmingham will have its only entrance at the site of the former Curzon St station

Myth Number 153:

The streets of Sunderland and Hartlepool have been paved with gold ever since they got their GC Open Access links to London - a direct train to the capital has transformed them - which is why Shrewsbury and Telford are so desperate for such a service

Myth number 7209. It is possible to get an 8 car HST in and out of an unmanned platform in the dark, checking all doors, in under 60 seconds. It must be, as delays keep ringing me to see why I lost time!

Here's one that a surprising number on this forum seem to believe:

Myth number DT4: the Weymouth Quay railway can be put to good use somehow.

Refurb is perhaps stretching the truth a bit. LED lights, new seat covers and a lick of paint. I'd personally call it a refresh. Plug sockets? No such luxuries available on an EMT HST!

Plus the LED reading lights in first class were removed.

(Not such a) Myth 4321: It is socially acceptable to tut audibly upon the arrival of a Class 142, anyone caught not doing so is to be treated to a Pacer ride along jointed track at speed.

The XC's have plug sockets, however :)

Myth #whatever Your myth is better if you explain it in the same post

Myth #whatever + 1 having the barriers at Euston in the morning configuration at evening rush hour is a great way to get people onto the platforms quickly

Myth 9¾:

The Dementors attacking the train in the Harry Potter film are, in fact, the RPIs doing a Total Ticket Inspection.
