They're usually 156s.

I live at Buxton, and I've never seen a 158 here...

this was when i was about.. 6? lol we waited 2 hours as a 150 broke down, then another 150 came to drag it and that had a gearbox fault or summat.. so in the end there was a spare 158 sent down and nobody was very happy....

as far as i can remeber

Did any 175s ever work to Buxton while FNW ran the Blackpool services?

On a similar subject - did 158s/175s ever work to Clitheroe/Southport/Wigan while it was all FNW?

Wasn't a class 37 lookalike clone was it Rich?

Yeah I seem to remember a 37 that looked like that. Seem to remember a bucket (40445 was it?) that looked like that a few years back too. Not got the foggiest really...:?::razz:

On a similar subject - did 158s/175s ever work to Clitheroe while it was all FNW?

Whenever I've seen trains on the Clitheroe services , I've never seen anything other than 150/153/156's.

It was odly quite common to see a single 153 on what used to be the 17:12 Clitheroe to Rochdale in FNW days, even though it was obviously a peak-time service, and also the fact that the branch is usually 150's.

156's could sometimes run up to Clitheroe, especially on the diagram which finished with the 21:36 Clitheroe to Buxton train, but 156's seem to be more common over the weekend, for some reason.

I've never ever seen a 142 stroll onto the branch north of Blackburn, but have seen one on a Manchester to Blackburn service before, suggesting that they may not be allowed on the Blackburn-Clitheroe stretch?

When I did the very enjoyable Manchester to Buxton trip earlier this year, I had a nice ex-ATN 156, but don't know how common 150's are- Maybe Gizmogle can tell us?

150s are quite common, but not used as often as 156s.
We often get the 150s with the 3+2 seating in the light purple/white Northern livery.

I've never seen anything on the Buxton branch besides 156s and 150s. (apart from the specials obv)

We get just about every type of livery you can think of though.
Arriva Trains Northern, Gold Star, First North Western, Northern Spirit, Northern Puple/White, Blue with White doors.
