Congratulations to all who have been successful, quick question to anyone who maybe able to help.

I've had my telephone interview and this morning I confirmed a date for my driver manager interview, the email stated that this was the final stage.

Does the driver manager interview happen before the psychometric assessments take place? Because I have previously passed the psychometric testing with db schenker however I was aware of the fact that I may have to retake it due to the standards changing.

I am applying for Oxford and my interview is at reading on the 17th December. If anyone has any tips or information on the interview would be greatly appreciated and I think it'll also benefit others who are due to go for their interviews.

Regards,
Kyle

Got a conditional job offer for Bristol today, pending a medical which should be Ok.

Absolutely over the moon. A boyhood dream come true. Plan to spend the rest of my working life in this role.

Start in April.
What was the DM interview like , can you give an insight or any help , I have mine soon .

Thanks

The DM interview is after the psycho tests so it looks like FGW are carrying the DBS pass over so you can breath a sigh of relief.

Just the (routine) medical after the DM interview so you are well on the way.

Evening everyone.
So I had a call back from first hr today regarding messages and emails I have sent them. Basically having sat stage 2 in swindon on nov 13th, passings all tests and then sitting mmi, I have been sat for nearly a month with absolutely no contact whatsoever to indicate my interview results, hence why I called and emailed.
I have been told im still in a position where im been considered with no definitive answer. I have been told to call back end of dec if still no wordd.
Is anyone in the same position as me here?
Has anyone been in this position for so long before with no contact?

I had mine on 26 Nov. No news...
Did they tell you that you passed MMI and they are debating if your results are high enough?

I suppose if we were assessed for April's course, FGW will take their time. They will have to go up to stage 2 with current candidates (applying after the latest advert).
I applied earlier when speculative vacancy job advert was on.
Then having everybody's results on the plate, DM interview invites should be distributed to the best ones.
I felt I did OK, however while driving back I came up with better or fuller answers...
As the time passes by, having read other people's posts I am not too convenient at all...

That sounds like a bit of a result for me then. Any ideas what traction oxford depot sign is it just 165/166's or do they sign hsts? What route do oxford drivers work, and what's it like as a company?

Kyle

Oxford drive turbos / HSTs / 180s.
You wont get near HSTs for a while, but you may end up signing 180s sooner rather than later!
Routes are Oxford to Padd, to Hereford, to Banbury. You would sign Padd and Banbury, oh and Padd to Greenford as well. Worcester and Hereford in higher links only.

It's a weird one this.

I attended the same day as someone else I know, infact I was in directly before them. However they recieved feedback 2 days ago, and I've had nothing.

His online status has changed to successful at interview/on hold
So u would imagine it will be just the waiting game for him now, until a proper course is organised.

I rang HR, and they said they are still awaiting feedback regarding my DM interview, how that can be the case I to not know coñdidering all of the above.
It really is frustrating and their seems to be an obvious lack of organisation, either that or just mega undrstaffed

I was told that I'll start on 6th Jan with the training in Bristol, depot is Gloucester but I had a hiccup at the medical so it's all been put off time for me slightly.

Sorry to hear that mate. Was the issue anything serious? Hopefully you can get it sorted for April's course.

It was just eyesight, nothing serious - all sorted with an up to date prescription.

I've handed in my notice, so I hope to be on the January course as planned.

Im not sure what's happening really, so :|

Good to hear mate. Getting the conditional offer can often make you forget that it is indeed conditional and not formal until you have had a successful medical. Something I need to keep reminding myself.

Saying that, it's rare for my TOC to fail someone permanently at the medical stage.

if you go onto the website under the contact us button there is a side header for careers. On a diff note got a call back yday saying I was succesful at interview and will be on the next available course at Zveistol which they expect to be in April. However I won't pack my bags just yet though as I am all to conscious of how the railway works and wouldn't be surprised to see nothing gapped until at September! Medical etc will be fond nearer the time sge said. Champion

Nice one, haven't been officially told April, but the lass on the phone aid peons April so not counting my chickens too soon! Bristol aswell?

There is very likely to be a course starting on April 7th, as a few of my internal colleagues are also joining me on the course. I was speaking to a driver manager earlier too and they mentioned that the April course is already nearly full at this stage. I've also been released from my current role as a Guard with a replacement for myself already undergoing their training so I hope there is a course now!

Yup, I'm at Bristol too mate.

Ohh I bloody hope its April, cannot be doing with waiting longer. Ah well I will be moving down there in the new year so if I am on in April, we will have to have a per training beer! Saying April course us nearly full doesn't exactly inspire me however!!!

Hi - Is anyone here a FGW Depot Driver at Old Oak Common (or know of someone who is)?

I'm interested to hear their experiences and views about the job. I heard for aspiring drivers who are trying to pursue a career as a driver from outside the rail industry, it is certainly a respectable and varied job with the chance of perhaps going mainline further down the line.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Has anyone who had their stage 2 around 25, 26, 27 of November been contacted yet?

I had mine on 3rd December and received an e-mail on 5th December to say I hadn't been successful.

I e-mailed to ask for feedback on which parts I'd failed but I'm still waiting to hear back.

I have no idea what that means for you, I would have thought that all those before me would have heard back first. Perhaps you're right on the edge and they're waiting to see how everyone else does? I'm not sure how it works but good luck x

Thanks for the reply.
I do not know what do think... but hesitate to contact HR as they my perceive it as being inpatient.

Anybody else heard any news on their stage 2 yet?

Which should mean that you passed the MMI.
Otherwise they would not be considering it. :D

I don't know about you guys but my minimum is to achieve a PASS on all assessments.
Preserve 2 lives if you like.
That would enable me to keep on applying, then maybe one day....
