Hull to Manchester Piccadilly services

Am I right in thinking that there are 4 diagrams for the Manchester Piccadilly to Hull services?

I know the 0838 Leeds to Hull, and 0840 Leeds to Man Picc are both booked 4cars, so are the other 2 diagrams booked for 2cars?

Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes

Also how many diagrams are there for the Man Air to Cleethorpes services, and which departures from Manchester Piccadilly to Cleethorpes are booked for class 170s?

All help appreciated!

Yeah i make it out to be 4 170 on the hull's. I am not sure which are booked 4 cars but i am pretty sure that the 16:42 Pic-Hull is 4 car and i imagine that the 17:42 will be 4 car as it is the peak time hull service.

I am not to sure about the Cleethorpes Services but it think there is about 2 diagrams that are booked for 170 this may be wrong. Also i think on Sundays they have more 170's running on the line.

The 1640 Hull - Manchester is a 185, but seem to think there are 5 diagrams on the Hull - Manchester services as there's an extra Hull - Huddersfield service (1802 through Leeds)

I dont think they are banned, just restricted to a reduced speed.

Definitely not banned as they have booked work there, but Hulls are usually diagrammed 170s as 185s can make us of the DMU differentials so are limited to 75mph on parts between Selby and Hull

Where are the 170's operating at the moment ? I see a single unit Mon-Thu at 6:58am going to Cleethorpes and iirc about 4:40pm going back from Doncaster.

At most other times the TPE service seems to be a single 185, anyone know what Manchester-Cleethorpes services will be twin (4 car) 170's post introduction of the 350's ?

On 185s to Hull the only restriction is that they cannot use Sprinter differentials. But as one TPE guard has stated this isn't an issue:

There are no particular problems, other than that on the section of line east of Selby where there are differential (higher) speeds for sprinters, they can't run at the sprinter speeds - unlike the 170s. They are given the same times in the schedule as their superior acceleration compared to a 170 means that there is negligible time differences between the two classes.

Is there not a restiction of how many are permitted over the Selby Swingbridge each day as well?

I posted the diagrams for South TPE earlier on, Post 3
After the 350s have been introduced, one diagram currently operated by a 170 will go over to 185 operation, allowing the other 170 operated diagram to be formed of 2x170s.

That covers two of the eight 170's - what about the rest ?

Having overheard a TPE guard last week talking about swapping out busy 185's for four car 170's, I'm not that convinced that this is the case - I'd expect economic sense would see single (two car) 170's replaced by a 185 and the busiest 185 service replaced by a twin (four car) 170 train. There should be four twin 170 diagrams.

Thought when you posted you was referring to South TPE (was judging that on your location of Sheffield), apologies
The South TPE workings are purely from years of observations, don't know about North TPE.
