To the guys who had their DM today (Septus and James956) how did you get on? Did they tell you when you'd hear or when the training courses are running?

Seemed to go Ok, I was told 'I would know by next week' and that the training would start within the 'next couple of months'.

Now its another waiting game! lol

Grilling or quite relaxed? The waiting is the worst part. Which depot did you apply for Reading or Oxford?

Seemed quite relaxed, but still was a grilling all the same. It did feel less intense than the MMI.

I applied for Oxford.

The same as what septus has said really. The interviewers were friendly and it was more relaxed but a lot of non stop questions, giving examples of certain situations e.t.c.

Its years since I did mine, but what I do remember is I only answered about 3/4 of the questions, my (rather full) answers for other questions covered the ones they didnt ask me.

Basic rules apply, think about the actual question being asked, then think about your answer for a few seconds, then answer clearly but precisely, dont talk about irrelevances, and remember to KISS* it.

* Keep It Simple Stupid.

Good luck.

Did anyone else apply for Trainee train driver Gloucester, and took your stage 1 assessment at Bristol around September 2013? If so have you heard back on when the stage 2 will be, I've been told I was successful in stage 1 and will be contacted soon but I am still waiting and its doing my head in.

Exactly the same situation as me, from looking at this website i think they have chosen the people they wanted for stage 2, which they did months ago. The people who got through started on 6th jan.
I wish they would basically say that we have been overlooked rather than keeping us hanging on.

Yeah maybe but why would they email us saying you have successfully passed stage 1 we will be in contact with you soon about stage 2? Also I have only read posts about people who are going to be in Reading or Oxford so far, and not Gloucester so either no one is on this thread who is going to Gloucester or there dealing with Gloucester applicants after maybe I hope.

It is very much a patience game, they've said at every stage so far they'll let us know what's going on either way.

I applied late-august (for Paddington), waited 3 weeks to hear back about a telephone interview which i took almost immediately. I then waited another 3 weeks to hear back that I was succesful and would be sitting stage 1. I had to wait 4 weeks for the results of stage 1 (passed), then sat stage 2 in late november. I waited 7 weeks to hear back stage 2 results (again pass) and am now up to 4 weeks waiting to hear a date for Driver Managers' Interview.

I think the Gloucestershire and westbury depot applications may be at the same sort of stand still as I sat stage 2 in November and got my pass email in december. 2 months on and still waitinf for dm invite. Can only be any day now surely. Wishful thinking

Gloucester now has 7 Trainees and they don't know what they are going to do with them so bringing more on would be a suprise tbh

Yes, I did my stage 1 in Bristol in September, I also did my stage two in October, medical in December and started working for FGW in January.

As far as recruiting goes I think the ship has sailed. from what I know. April is possibly going to be the last running course for the foreseeable. @skinny Dave, any advances on this?

Not true I am afraid mate. I am on the Jan 6th Course and while there is one guy who went through in August, the rest of us did our stage 1 in april/early may.

I know how frustrating it is but they will get back to you to say if you are through or not...Apart from my DMI I had to wait quite a while after each stage.

Keep the faith. Patience is key here.

I totally admire and have huge respect for those who have been sat days/weeks and in some cases months to find out how they have got on.

I had DM interview Friday and only into my 2nd day of waiting....and it is a killer! lol

Every time I log into my emails to see Inbox (1) my heart skips a beat...until I then see it is the usual 'junk' email.
