Just heard about this on Signal Radio. Also posted on Signal's website. Doesn't sound too good!

Crewe station has been evacuated due to strong winds taking down the power lines and a fire on the lines.

There is also damage to the station roof and debris falling down.

No services at currently stopping at the station to ensure staff and passenger safety.

There is no indication of when it is likely to reopen.

Anyone planning to travel is urged to contact the train companies and check national rail enquiries.

Virgin have tweeted UPDATE: We are advising all customers not to attempt to travel. Customers already on services will be taken to the nearest station.

According to Guardian.

Its going to be pretty much closed from now onwards !!

Reports of a power failure in the Stafford areas as well now.

Yes both Manchester routes south of Stockport out according to another tweet shown on the Guardian report.

Edit: more

A spokesman for Virgin trains said that they are stopping services at the nearest station for safety reasons. Overhead cables have set fire to the roof at Crewe station and there are trees on the line in several places. Trains will wait until until it is safe to continue, the spokesman said.
