Thought I'd failed my phone interview, just had the email saying I'm going for assessment. Good luck to anyone else who's applied for this role.:)

Hi, I have a dilema, I have an assessment day next week for DB Schenker and have just passed my telephone interview for TPE and awaiting my assessment date for that. Am I right in thinhking you can only do one assessment in a 6 month period, if this is so what should I do?

You are only able to take the test once in a 6 month period, regardless of who it is with. If you fail you have to wait the 6 months before you can take it again. You get two chances only.
If you pass, the pass is valid for 5 years, although this is at the TOC's/FOC's discretion. In theory, if you pass the test, you should not have to sit the test again withing this period, although, FOC's may have other elements they may ask you to sit (not sure if this is the case, just heard someone mention it). So if you pass the test, but are not selected or put in a talent pool, there is nothing stopping you applying to another TOC. The flip side is that TOC's pay a lot of money to run these tests and it may be frowned upon, but nothing saying you can't do it.
Personally, I would take the test and see how you get on, but it is up to you at the end of the day. If you pass, you may have a choice depending on whether you make it to and and pass DM interviews. It may be worth anonymously contacting one or both of the HR dept's and ask what their policy on this situation is.

.

Hang on, you only get 2 chances, regardless of TOC's so fail the tests twice and your stuffed?

In a nutshell yes. If you fail the tests twice, you will not be able to apply for a Driver role again. You can still apply for work on the railways, just not Driver.

Start a new thread or continue an already started one this is for drivers !

Sorry B & E, definitely not the way I would have worded this at all. I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of a post stating stay relevant or go away and have children. Having said that, there is a place for relevance.

At the risk of being slightly irrelevant, I have failed the telephone interview and have concluded that I will be close to retirement by the time I get recruited.

Basically, this is the third interview in the space of half a year which I have failed. If someone can tell me where to go, sensible suggestions please, so I can address my shortcomings, I would be more than grateful.

I am quite despondent that I have missed out on the Scarborough job as I have been waiting three years for such an opportunity. The National Careers Service were previously quite helpful but I do not seem to have enjoyed the same co-operation from them in recent weeks. Story of my life.

You can't apply for any driving role if you find yourself in this situation. This includes Maintenance Depot Driving.

It does not include trams or London Underground.

Hi there how long did you have to wait to be told you had passed the telephone interview? Curious as I was told it could be up to 4 weeks. In saying that it's probably up to 4 weeks to be told I didn't make it

I found out next day mate.
Cheers.
I got an email eventually on Friday late afternoon to say i'd passed and that they'd like to speak to me.
Logged in to book my slot and I've had to decline it due to it clashing with my current employer, I didn't have a choice :(
Are they flexible at all for the slots for the trainee drivers?

No idea...i think i had 4 or 5 slots to choose from, i took the latest one i could (4:30pm) and took a half-day holiday in case i was kept back at work. Could you not get leave? Seems a shame to miss out but i appreciate not all employers give time off at short notice.

No secrets in my work place, everyone knows about my intentions to be a train driver. Every time I have a day off, my boss thinks I have train driver interview scheduled.
